Chatbot Development
Chatbot Development Services
I build a site assistant that answers the questions your visitors keep asking, using only your own facts, and that is what my chatbot development services come down to. It tells people up front that it is an AI assistant, and when a question goes past what it should answer alone, it hands off to a person.
Chatbot Development Services Start With Your ZIP
This only works when the answers are grounded in your own facts and there's a clean handoff to a person the moment a question goes past what it should answer alone. Give me your ZIP and I'll tell you what tier fits.

What it builds
What Chatbot Development Services Actually Build
Your visitors get their answer straight from your own pages.
- I build it in one of two tiers, either scripted and unlimited or Claude-AI-connected and metered.
- You approve every fact it draws on, so it never has a made-up one to offer.
- Anything past what it should answer alone goes to a person, and I set that path up.
- This site runs its own version of exactly this, right now, as you read it.
- I'll tell you straight which tier fits. I don't upsell the bigger one.
AI agent development services covers the version that acts inside your systems, and I keep this chatbot on simple questions and hand a complaint or a money question to you.
The problem
The Problem This Solves
A visitor with nobody to ask leaves, often for good, and often to a competitor.

The components
What's Included
Every chatbot development services project I take on breaks into six pieces.

Scope & Tier Selection
I choose the tier first. Scripted is unlimited and rules-based, while Claude-AI-connected is metered and suits wider, more varied questions.
Knowledge Grounding
You decide which facts go into the knowledge base, and the chatbot answers from nothing else.
Build & Embed
Its embed matches the site's own look.
Human Handoff
Past its limit, it hands the question off to a person.
Engagement Tracking
You can read every conversation in a log, which tells you whether the chatbot is helping.
Ongoing Knowledge Updates
A chatbot quoting last year's hours does more harm than none, so I update the knowledge base whenever your services or facts change.
The process
How I Deliver It, Step by Step
I follow the same order on every build, the one I've used since 1998.
- I choose the tier, scripted and unlimited, or Claude-AI-connected and metered, based on how varied your questions are.
- I build the chatbot's answers from your own facts, never an invented one.
- I build and embed it on your site, matched to how it already looks.
- I design the human-handoff path for anything outside what the chatbot can answer well.
- I wire in engagement tracking, so you can see whether it's helping.
Who it's for
Who This Is for, and What Changes Either Way
I built this for a business whose visitors ask the same handful of questions, with nobody available around the clock to answer them. I often bundle it with a new site build, but it sits just fine on the site you already have.
- I'd start by pulling your last month of customer questions from the phone, email, and contact form.
- If most of them repeat, a chatbot earns its keep fast, usually within weeks.
- If most are one-off and specific, I'd start narrower, or start with a person instead.
- Skip it, and that same visitor leaves the moment nobody's there to answer.
- I've watched a grounded chatbot catch that exact visitor at eleven at night, when nobody on staff was anywhere near a phone.
If what you need is something that takes action, updating a record, routing a request, drafting something, that's an agent, never a chatbot. Both use AI, so the two get confused constantly, but the job is genuinely different. Getting the knowledge base right, and knowing what's yours once it's live (the knowledge base and every answer in it), matters enough that the full build breakdown covers it in its own right.
The boundaries
What I Do Not Do
I hold four firm lines on every chatbot I build, and each one protects your visitors' trust.
I Do Not Let It Invent Answers
You get a chatbot that answers only from the knowledge base we build together, and it says so when it doesn't know instead of inventing something.
I Do Not Skip the Human Handoff
I build in a handoff to a person for anything outside scope, so a hard question never goes unanswered.
I Do Not Quote Prices in the Conversation Without You Deciding That First
Prices come up only the way you set beforehand, never something the chatbot improvises.
I Do Not Ship It Without Engagement Tracking
No build ships without tracking wired in. The same discipline builds an AI receptionist for phone conversations.
Here’s what I build for you.

Frequently Asked Questions
These only live on this page. If yours isn't here, ask me below.
Scripted vs AI-Connected
What's the Difference Between a Scripted Chatbot and an AI-Connected One?
Your scripted chatbot answers from a fixed set of rules, unlimited use, no per-message cost. A Claude-AI-connected chatbot reasons across a wider set of your own facts and is metered by use. Which fits depends on how varied your visitors' questions are.
Which Tier Is Right for My Site — Scripted or AI-Connected?
Your visitors decide this, not a general rule. A handful of predictable questions fits the scripted tier well. A wider range of genuinely varied questions is where the AI-connected tier earns its keep. I'll tell you straight which one fits once I see what your visitors ask.
Can I Start With the Scripted Tier and Move Up Later?
Your business can absolutely start there. Plenty of businesses start scripted, see what visitors ask that it can't handle, and move to the AI-connected tier once that pattern is clear.
Does an AI-Connected Chatbot Ever Go Off-Script?
It stays inside your approved knowledge base in both tiers, and anything past what it can answer well goes to a person instead of a guess.
Accuracy & Honesty
How Do You Make Sure the Chatbot Doesn't Give Wrong or Made-Up Answers?
I only let it answer from an approved knowledge base built from your services, hours, service area and policies. Past that, it says it doesn't know and hands your visitor to a person.
What Happens When a Visitor Asks Something the Chatbot Can't Answer?
Your visitor gets handed off to an actual person, with the conversation so far attached, instead of stalling or getting something made up. I design that handoff path before the chatbot ever goes live.

Where Does the Chatbot's Knowledge Come From?
Your own facts, what you tell me about your services, policies, and how you work, become the approved knowledge base it draws from. It's never a generic script written for any business in your industry.
Can the Chatbot Talk About Pricing or Make Promises on My Behalf?
Your decision on pricing is made before launch, and it governs every conversation. It never improvises a promise on its own.
What It Does Day to Day
Can the Chatbot Capture Leads Directly Into My CRM?
Your chatbot conversation can absolutely hand a lead straight into your CRM. The chatbot itself is what I build here. What happens to that lead afterward is its own service: lead generation.
How Do You Know If the Chatbot Is Helping, or Just Sitting There?
Engagement tracking tells you, and I wire it in from day one because I've watched a chatbot go live with none and nobody could say if it worked.
Does a Chatbot Work on Any Website Platform, or Only Specific Ones?
It embeds on most platforms, so yours is rarely the blocker. I adapt the build to how your site is put together and confirm the fit on your actual site before we start.
Is a Chatbot the Same Thing as an AI Agent?
Your chatbot answers and converses. An agent takes action inside your systems instead: looking something up, drafting something, routing something. If you need the second one, that's AI agent development services, a different page.
Getting Started
How Long Does It Take to Build and Embed a Chatbot?
Timeline depends on the tier chosen and the knowledge-base work still ahead. I'll give you a straight estimate once I see your site.
Do I Need to Write the Knowledge Base Myself?
You won't write it yourself. I draft the knowledge base with you from what you already know about your business, and you check my draft for accuracy.
Can the Chatbot Handle More Than One Language?
Your audience decides whether it's worth building, and it depends on the tier too. Tell me your audience and I'll scope it straight instead of assuming.
What's the First Step If I Want a Chatbot on My Site?
Your first move is simple: tell me what your visitors ask, and I'll tell you straight which tier, scripted or AI-connected, fits, before we build anything.
How Do I Know If My Business's Questions Are Predictable Enough for a Chatbot?
Last month's customer questions answer this fastest, pulled from the phone or a contact form. Repeating questions earn a chatbot its keep fast.
Why Choose Me for a Chatbot Development Company
I've seen an ungrounded chatbot guess at an answer and state it with total confidence. This comes from a builder who has done SEO and web design since 1998; here's the story.
