YouTube SEO Services

I build the channel plan first, then the on-video and on-site work that makes a video findable instead of just uploaded.

YouTube SEO Services Start With Your ZIP

Here, that means treating YouTube like the search engine it is. A channel plan and on-video optimization come first. The on-site schema is what lets a video get found. Give me your ZIP first.

What's included

What YouTube SEO Services Actually Include

I've opened channels with forty uploads and a hundred subscribers, videos that were good, filmed and edited well, sitting under two hundred views because nothing in the title or the description ever told a search engine what they were for. Every one of them was invisible on purpose, just not on purpose the way anyone intended. So here's the full range I build into a channel plan, roughly in the order it plays out on a live project.

YouTube SEO services — a seed library of labeled drawers with one drawer open showing sorted packets — Caleb Schallert.
A channel with the right structure is a library, not a pile: every drawer sorted before anyone goes looking.

Channel-Level SEO

An empty About section is the first fix, with every new upload built on it after that.

Title & Description SEO for Every Video

I put the word a searcher would type at the front of the title, in a title that still reads like something a person would click on. I've rewritten hundreds of these. So the description becomes a full explanation, written for a human first and YouTube's indexing second.

Chapters That Map Search Intent Inside One Video

A twenty-minute video of mine surfaced for two different searches once the chapters went in.

Transcripts & Closed Captions

I add a full, accurate transcript so YouTube's crawler reads the actual words spoken. Most people watch muted. So it also opens the video to a deaf or hard-of-hearing viewer, or to anyone scrolling with the sound off, which on a phone is most people. I've had a viewer tell me the captions were the reason they finished watching.

Thumbnails Built to Earn the Click

A thumbnail's only job is earning the click once a video is already showing up in search or the suggested feed. I swapped one on a Tuesday and watched the click-through rate move by Friday.

VideoObject Schema for On-Site Embeds

I mark up any video embedded on your own site with VideoObject structured data. So Google knows what it is, at least well enough to place it correctly. I've seen a ranking hold up because the schema told Google the video was a five-minute how-to, and not the two-hour livestream nobody would sit through.

The process

How I Deliver YouTube SEO Services, Step by Step

Same order on every channel. I've had a client ask me to skip straight to thumbnails because thumbnails are the fun part. I run the audit first anyway, or the rewrite has nothing to aim at.

Here's the order I work in on a live channel. I've run it dozens of times, and I still start at the audit.

  1. The channel audit comes first, checked against what the channel already does.
  2. YouTube keyword research runs separately, because its search bar behaves nothing like Google's.
  3. Existing videos with proven search demand get new titles and descriptions, tags included.
  4. Chapters and a full transcript go on the longer, higher-intent videos first.
  5. Thumbnails get reviewed one by one, and the ones not earning the click get rebuilt.
  6. VideoObject schema goes on any video embedded on the site itself.
  7. A monthly report covers watch time, click-through rate, and the search terms driving views.

Audit, keywords, titles, chapters, thumbnails, schema, report: seven markers, always worked in the same order.

Where video fits

YouTube Is the Second Search Engine, and Video Already Lives Inside Google

Every upload gets built for two search bars, YouTube's own and the one already sitting inside Google.

One video getting lucky was never the plan. It becomes a channel that keeps answering demand that was already sitting there, the same architecture-first thinking behind every page on this site, aimed at video instead of text. I built my own first web page in 1998. GoldenEye cheat codes, Dreamweaver, my dad looking over my shoulder. That lesson stuck. A video built to answer a question people search for keeps earning attention years after it goes up, as a channel keeps pulling views off an upload from two years back.

One well-built video, two places it earns visibility at once: same as this one shaft of light on two beds.

Who this is for, and where it fits

Who YouTube SEO Services Are for, and Where It Fits Against Video Production

This is for a business that already has video, or a channel that's been uploading on a schedule with no strategy behind titles, descriptions, or structure.

  • An unoptimized upload usually plateaus under a few hundred views within the first month.
  • A well-titled video can still be earning views two years after it published.
  • Optimization, production, and marketing strategy stay three separate jobs, even on the same channel.

The growth audit that starts this conversation looks at your own channel and your own site. It isn't a checklist. I run the same look at every account, and every account still comes back different.

Who This Is for, and What Changes Either Way

If a video gets made and uploaded with no plan behind it, it picks up a handful of views from people who already knew to look for it. I've watched that exact video sit at two hundred views for a year, because nothing in the title, the description, or the transcript ever told YouTube or Google what it was for.

YouTube SEO Services vs. Video Production and Video Marketing

Chapters, titles and descriptions get built here; filming stays with video production.

Where it stops

What YouTube SEO Services Do Not Include

A few lines worth reading up front instead of finding out halfway through a project.

No Guaranteed Views, Subscribers, or a Specific Ranking Position

I won't promise a view count, a subscriber number, or a ranking spot before I've even seen your channel. Anyone who does is guessing at your expense. I've watched a few of those promises come due badly. What I will build is the titles, structure, and schema that give a video a fair shot at earning both. Google's own video SEO documentation covers the same fundamentals I work from.

No Filming or Editing

This page doesn't produce the video itself. That's video production work, its own discipline with its own equipment and timeline. If a video still needs to be shot before there's anything to optimize, that conversation starts on the production page, not here.

AI-Produced Video Samples, Always Labelled

Any sample or mockup made with AI tools instead of filmed gets labelled, every time. Nothing shown as a demonstration passes off as camera-shot work.

No YouTube Ad Management

Paid YouTube advertising is its own discipline, with its own bidding and budget. This page stays focused on what a video earns through organic search.

Frequently Asked Questions

These only live on this page. If yours isn't here, ask me below.

The Basics

What Does YouTube Channel Optimization Mean?

If your channel has no structure, a viewer ends up doing the sorting YouTube's own system would rather reward you for doing first. So channel keywords, an About section written for search, an organized set of playlists, and a trailer that earns a subscribe are the channel-level work underneath any single video. I build all four before I touch a single upload, at least on every project I've run this way.

Is Video SEO the Same Thing as YouTube SEO?

You'll hear both used for the same job most of the time. YouTube SEO ranks inside YouTube's own search and suggested feed specifically. Video SEO is the wider discipline, the same principles applied to any video, including one that only lives embedded on your own site. On a live project the two overlap almost every time.

What Do Video SEO Services Include?

Whatever channel you're running, this is the search layer sitting on top of a video that already exists or is already planned. Channel-level SEO, title and description work on every video, chapters, full transcripts, thumbnail testing, and VideoObject schema for anything embedded on your own site. It doesn't include the filming itself.

Why Does a Well-Made Video Still Get Almost No Views?

If you filmed something solid and it's still stuck under two hundred views, the title, description, or transcript almost certainly never told YouTube or Google what the video answers. I've seen a technically excellent video with a vague title and no chapters sit invisible to the exact search it should have won. So production quality and search visibility end up being two different jobs, and most channels only ever do the first one.

Titles, Chapters, Transcripts, and Thumbnails

How Do You Decide What a Video's Title Should Say?

Your title has to survive a scroll past four other results, so I start with what a searcher types into YouTube's search bar for that topic. That reads differently than a Google query: shorter, more direct, often a question. The keyword leads the title. But it still has to read like something a person would click, not search terms stitched together end to end.

Do Chapters Help a Video Rank, or Are They Just for Viewers?

Both apply to you at once. Chapters let YouTube read a long video as several distinct topics instead of one block, so a specific chapter can surface for a specific search instead of only the video as a whole. For the viewer, it's the difference between scrubbing through ten minutes and jumping straight to the part they searched for.

Why Do You Add a Full Transcript to Every Video?

If you want YouTube's crawler reading the actual words spoken instead of guessing from a title, the transcript is what does that. It also opens the video to a deaf or hard-of-hearing viewer, and to anyone watching with the sound off, which on a phone is most people most of the time. So I've had a client's own team say the captions were the reason a viewer stayed.

How Do You Decide If a Thumbnail Is Working?

If you want proof it's working, I check your own click-through rate against impressions, not my opinion of the design. I build every thumbnail to do one job: earn the click once the video is already showing up in search or suggested results. I've pulled a thumbnail after three days when the data said so.

YouTube as a Search Engine, and Video Inside Google

Is YouTube Search That Different From Google Search?

You search both differently without noticing you're doing it. YouTube queries tend to run shorter and more direct, phrased for a demonstration or a walkthrough instead of a written answer. Keyword research done for a site's blog doesn't automatically transfer, at least not cleanly. So I research the two separately every time.

Can a YouTube Video Show Up Inside Regular Google Search Results?

If your video is optimized well, it can earn a spot in both places from one upload. Google surfaces video directly inside its main results, through a video carousel or a featured preview, sometimes for searches that never open YouTube at all. The signals that help a video rank on YouTube largely overlap with what helps it earn a spot on Google.

What Is VideoObject Schema, and Why Would I Need It?

Once your video is embedded on your own site, this is the structured data that tells a search engine exactly what it is, how long it runs, and what it covers, instead of the page just showing what looks like a video-shaped box. I add it wherever a video I've optimized gets embedded on your own site. The page and the video reinforce each other in search after that.

Does Posting Consistently Matter More Than Optimizing Each Individual Video?

Cadence builds the signals YouTube rewards, but a video still needs its own title and chapters before it can surface in a search.

Getting Started

Do I Need an Existing Channel With Videos Already Up, or Can You Start From Zero?

Whichever situation you're in, the work always starts from an audit. An existing channel gets one first: what's already ranking, what's plateaued, what the titles and structure are quietly costing you. A new channel gets the same optimization built in from the first upload, so it isn't playing catch-up a year in.

Do You Handle the Filming, or Only the Search Optimization?

Only the search optimization sits on this page. Filming and editing is video production work, a separate discipline with its own process. If your video doesn't exist yet, that conversation starts there. This page picks up once there's something to optimize, or a clear plan for what's coming.

How Is Progress on YouTube SEO Measured?

Two lines on the monthly report, watch time and click-through rate, decide which titles get rewritten next.

Do You Also Run YouTube Ads?

If you're looking for paid YouTube advertising, that's its own discipline, with its own bidding and budget strategy, separate from the organic search work this page targets. I keep this service focused on what a video earns through search. What it buys through ad spend is a different conversation.

What's Included

YouTube SEO services cover the channel plan and titles. Chapters and thumbnails come next, tied to the on-site video schema that connects a video back to the page it's supposed to rank for. The internet marketing blog goes deeper on how video SEO works end to end.
