Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile Optimization

Filled out once and forgotten, a profile still costs somebody the map pack today.

Enter Your ZIP for Google Business Profile Optimization

Here, that means finishing the profile properly, once. Categories and services come first. Hours and photos follow. Posts and Q&A keep the profile active. A review system is what keeps it working long after setup. Give me your ZIP and I'll tell you what's missing first.

Your profile is the shop front on Google's street. Categories, hours, photos and reviews are the window display.

What's included

What Google Business Profile Optimization Actually Includes

A profile is either finished or it isn't. Most of the ones I inherit are somewhere in between. Here's the full range of Google Business Profile work I do, in the order it happens on a live account.

Google business profile optimization — a row of hand-carved wooden tags hanging by a greenhouse door at dusk — Caleb Schallert.
A profile is just a row of tags. I make sure every one of them is filled in.

Categories Chosen Carefully

Categories chosen loosely keep a business out of searches it should already win.

Services, Hours, Attributes & Service Area

Services get listed in plain buyer language, with complete hours and the true service area.

Photos That Show the Work

Stock photos read as generic next to the work itself, sorted and captioned by category.

Google Posts & Q&A, Kept Active

Regular posts keep the profile reading active while the Q&A gets answered.

The Review System

I build a review-ask flow after every completed service, and you'll find the deeper review work at reputation management services.

Spam-Fighting & Suspension Recovery

Duplicate listings trigger a Google suspension fast. Google prohibits this.

The process

How I Deliver It, Step by Step

The category you picked is the first thing I change once the audit is done.

I work in this order, and I'd rather show you the true order than a tidier one that sounds better.

  1. Before anything else, I audit the baseline and check that the right owner has verified the profile.
  2. I change the category you picked to match what the business does.
  3. You get the whole services list and the hours, written in the words a buyer types.
  4. Each photo I add or swap in gets a caption, so the profile reads as active.
  5. Once the photos are up, I post every week so the profile always looks alive.
  6. I build a review-ask flow, and I answer every new review that comes in.
  7. You get a monthly Insights report that tracks views and direction requests.
Google business profile optimization — a row of labeled tins on a greenhouse bench being filled in order at dusk — Caleb Schallert.
I fill in every field in order. Nothing skipped, nothing padded.

What it costs

What a Half-Finished Profile Actually Costs You

Your bakery loses every bakery search when the category you picked says Corporate Office.

  • Until verification clears, your profile can stay invisible to searchers.
  • Two listings for one business split your reviews and your visibility.
  • Google reads a keyword-stuffed name as spam.
  • A too-wide service radius reads as spam to Google too.

A suite number that changed after signup can leave a postcard-verified profile capped until I find the mismatch.

Google business profile optimization — one half of a greenhouse bench thriving under light, the other half bare in shadow — Caleb Schallert.
A half-finished profile is a half-finished bench. The dark half never gets found.

Who this is for, and where it fits

Who This Service Is for, and Where It Fits Against Local SEO

It fits a profile that's incomplete or suspended.

  • A profile gone quiet, or a sudden suspension.
  • A second location opening, or a name change the old profile never caught.
  • Every location gets its own category and photo pass, never one template.
  • The growth audit looks at your actual profile first.

Who This Is for, and What Changes Either Way

This service fits a half-empty profile or a ranked one. The same build covers YouTube SEO services too.

GBP Optimization vs. Local SEO Services

Local SEO services covers citations and rank tracking for the whole business. This page is the profile alone, for a business whose citations are already clean.

No hedging

I put only the business's legal name in the name field.

No Guaranteed Map-Pack Ranking

You won't get a promise of any map-pack position from me, before the audit or after it.

I don't do citation cleanup across outside directories on this page.

Frequently Asked Questions

These only live on this page. If yours isn't here, ask me below.

What This Service Covers

What Do Google Business Profile Optimization Services Cover?

Locksmith hours that still list a holiday closure from last year get finished along with the category and photos, backed by the same spam and policy monitoring that runs after launch.

Is a Google My Business Optimization Service the Same Thing as Google Business Profile Optimization?

Google Business Profile is the current name for what most people still call Google My Business, so it's the same service either way. The work is identical under either name, in my build. Categories, fields, posts, reviews, run as one complete service, not a handful of settings changed once.

What Does GBP Optimization Mean in Practice, Day to Day?

It's a standing habit, where I post every week and answer each question and review. I also recheck your profile against Google's own category and policy list.

How Do I Know If My Profile Needs This, or If It's Already Fine?

Five photos from an old phone camera and no post since last spring is the kind of profile that needs the audit first.

Categories, Fields, and Photos

Why Does the Exact Category I Pick Matter so Much?

Fencing companies listed under General Contractor stop showing up for fence searches, no matter how well everything else on the profile is filled in.

Should I List Every Service I Offer, Even Smaller Ones?

Your service list reads best in the customer's own words, never padded with extras.

Do Stock Photos Hurt a Google Business Profile?

Stock photos of a handshake next to a competitor's own storefront lose that comparison almost every time.

What's the Actual Value of Google Posts If They Don't Carry Much Ranking Weight?

Posts keep a profile looking active, which matters to a visitor comparing a few options.

Reviews and Spam-Fighting

What Does a Review-Ask System Look Like That Doesn't Gate Anyone?

Twelve identical review replies pasted down the page read as unattended just as fast as no reply at all, so the ask goes out only after service is finished.

Will You Ever Buy or Generate Fake Reviews for My Profile?

Buying or generating reviews stays off the table permanently.

What Usually Causes a Google Business Profile Suspension in the First Place?

Duplicate listings from years back still split reviews between two versions of the same business. A radius stretched far past where the trucks go reads as an attempt to game reach.

How Do You Catch a Keyword-Stuffed Business Name Before It Causes a Problem?

I check the name field against the business's actual, legal name during the audit. Anything with a service or city term added on gets flagged and corrected. Google's guidelines explicitly prohibit it, and it's one of the more common triggers for a suspension.

What's the Actual Process for Recovering a Suspended Profile?

Recovery starts with the suspension's cause, like a name field padded with a city.

Working With Me

Do You Handle Multi-Location Businesses, or Only a Single Profile?

Both. A single profile gets the full treatment on its own. A multi-location business gets each profile optimized on its own merits, not one generic template copied across every location. The category mix and photo needs can differ from one location to the next, I've found.

How Is Progress on This Measured?

Monthly Insights reports track direction requests against the baseline pulled at the first audit, so the numbers move instead of being taken on faith.

Do I Need Local SEO Services Too, or Is Profile Optimization Enough on Its Own?

It depends what's already in place. If your citations and local content are solid and the profile is the weak link, this page is usually enough on its own. If nothing's been built yet, no citations, no local content, the full local SEO service is the better starting point, and I'll say so instead of selling the narrower scope by default.

What Happens After the Profile Is Finished — Is There Ongoing Work?

There's ongoing work if you want it. Posts, Q&A monitoring, and review responses are an ongoing habit for me, not a one-time fix, because a profile left alone after the initial cleanup slowly drifts back toward looking unattended. Some clients want that run monthly; others just want the one-time fix and take it from there themselves.

Why Choose Me for This Work

I've watched a competitor keep showing up in the map pack simply because their profile got finished first. This comes from a builder who has done SEO and web design since 1998; here's the story.

What Clients Say

I don't have client reviews on this page yet; here's how I earn them.

What's Included

Google Business Profile optimization covers categories and the services list. Hours and photos come next, alongside a review system built to keep working, checked against your site and schema. The internet marketing blog goes deeper on how GBP guidelines work in Google's own words.
