The components

What's Included in Retargeting Services

Nobody flips one setting inside an account already running ads and calls it retargeting.

Retargeting services — three lanterns at different heights along a path with footprints returning a second time — Caleb Schallert.
A different lantern for a different point on the path back.

Audience Segmentation by Behavior

Google Analytics splits an abandoned form from a pricing-page visit into separate segments, each earning its own message.

Creative Sequencing

The ad someone sees on day fourteen is a different one from day one, so nobody sees the same ad until they tune it out.

Cross-Platform Setup

You get one audience list across Google Display, Meta, and sometimes native networks, so no pixel has to guess alone.

Frequency Capping & Exclusions

I set two limits. The Meta pixel leaves out anyone who already bought or called, and I cap how many times one person sees the ad.

Assisted-Conversion Reporting

Each month the report credits the ad that helped close a sale before the final click.

Landing-Page Alignment Check

Retargeted clicks land on pages checked like PPC and Facebook Ads.

The process

How I Deliver Retargeting, Step by Step

Retargeting layers on top of whatever PPC or Facebook Ads account already runs.

  1. I check the pixel or tag first, the same first step I take in PPC and Facebook Ads management. Then I group visitors by what they did on the site.
  2. You get a plan for showing the ads in order, with a different message on day one than on day fourteen.
  3. Once the audience list is ready, I set up Google Display, Meta, and sometimes native networks to use it.
  4. I set the cap on how often one person sees the ad and leave alone anyone who already converted.
  5. Each month I send you the assisted-conversion report and keep tuning what runs.

I light the path one lantern at a time, in the order someone will walk it.

Who this is for

Who This Fits, and What Changes Either Way

An existing PPC or Facebook Ads account is the fit for retargeting, expanding what runs.

  • Paid-for traffic converts once, or never, without this.
  • Part of the budget goes to people who already raised a hand.
  • I won't promise a number of assisted conversions before I've seen your data.
  • The growth audit checks whether retargeting is ready to work.

Skip it and a warm lead who closed the tab never hears from you again.

Retargeting services — a half-full basket beside a full basket on the same worn garden path — Caleb Schallert.
Same visitor, same basket. It just took a second trip down the path to fill it.

Where this fits

Retargeting vs. a Standalone Campaign, and How It Stays Privacy-Safe

Built on top of an existing PPC or Facebook Ads account, retargeting draws on audience segments a pixel or cookie recognizes, once local SEO or a landing page already converts traffic.

  • It's never a standalone way to find new traffic.
  • It runs on audience segments, not a named individual.
  • Platform and site cookie-consent settings bind every campaign.
  • A second touch can't fix a page that never converted.

If a client's site has no cookie consent set up, that gets fixed before audiences start building.

Stated up front

What Retargeting Services Do Not Include

A few lines get stated up front, before anything moves forward.

Monthly reporting shows what this layer added beyond what the campaign already earned, detailed on the Journal.

Not a Standalone Acquisition Channel

This needs an existing PPC or Facebook Ads account with traffic to work from. If that traffic doesn't exist yet, building it comes first.

No Individual-Level Tracking Claims

The Meta pixel and cookies I work from recognize an audience segment and never identify a specific named visitor.

No Guaranteed Assisted-Conversion Number

Before I see your Google Ads and Meta accounts, I won't promise a specific number. I'll show you the number once there's enough data to trust.

No Long-Term Management Contract

There's no lock-in at month one or month twelve. Everything built during the engagement, down to the audience segments, stays yours no matter what happens next.

No Pixel or Tag Installation Bundled by Default

If a pixel or tag audit finds nothing installed, putting one live gets scoped and named as its own line item, before it happens.

Frequently Asked Questions

These only live on this page. If yours isn't here, ask me below.

What Retargeting Services Include and How It Works

What Is Retargeting, and How Is It Different From a Normal Ad Campaign?

A normal campaign aims at people who never saw your site. I aim retargeting at the visitor who left your pricing page, and I show that person the ads in order.

Do I Need an Existing PPC or Facebook Ads Account Before Retargeting Makes Sense?

Almost always, yes, in my build. This is a layer that runs on top of an existing PPC or Facebook Ads account, not its own acquisition channel. And it needs traffic that already showed genuine intent before it has an audience to work with. If that traffic doesn't exist yet, building it comes first.

How Many Times Will Someone See a Retargeting Ad Before It Stops?

Frequency capping excludes anyone who already bought or called, so nobody keeps seeing an ad for something they own long after day thirty.

Can Retargeting Run Across Google and Facebook at the Same Time?

Yes. Google Display and Meta can draw on the same audience list, and I sometimes add native networks too.

Privacy, Consent, and What Gets Tracked

Does Retargeting Track Me, or a Specific Named Visitor?

Segments recognize a browser that visited a page, never a named person.

Is Retargeting Privacy-Safe, and Does It Need Cookie Consent?

It runs inside each platform's own consent settings and your site's existing cookie consent.

What's an Assisted Conversion, and Why Does It Matter for Retargeting?

Sales closed partly by a retargeting touch count as assisted conversions.

Does Retargeting Work If My Site Doesn't Get Much Traffic Yet?

Traffic that thin builds an audience too small to spend against.

Results, Reporting, and How It Fits With PPC and Facebook Ads

How Is Retargeting Different From PPC Management or Facebook Ads Management?

PPC management and Facebook Ads management are the acquisition channels, bringing new visitors in, in my build. Retargeting is the layer on top of either one, bringing back the visitors those channels already earned but who didn't convert the first time. I run all three under one strategy so the audience data feeds each other instead of sitting in separate silos.

Will Retargeting Annoy the People Who Already Visited My Site Instead of Helping?

It can, if frequency capping and exclusions never get set, and that's the risk with this done badly. I cap how often each segment sees an ad and exclude anyone who already converted. But a second touch should stay a helpful reminder, so it never turns into the kind of repetition that damages the brand.

What Happens to My Retargeting Audience Data If I Stop Working With You?

You keep it. The audience segments, the platform accounts, and the creative all stay yours regardless of whether we keep working together. There's no long-term contract holding either of us in, and nothing gets held back on the way out.

How Fast Does Retargeting Start Producing Results?

Audience segments need a little time to build before there's anything meaningful to advertise against, usually a couple of weeks once the pixel or tag audit is done. From there, sequencing and exclusions get tuned against assisted-conversion data, not a guess made on day one.

Why Choose Me for Remarketing Services

I've watched a retargeting ad run unchanged until the audience stopped noticing it. This comes from a builder who has done SEO and web design since 1998; here's the story.

Remarketing Services Reviews

I don't have client reviews on this page yet; here's how I earn them.

What's Included With a Remarketing Services Plan

Retargeting services here cover audience segmentation by behavior and frequency capping. The internet marketing blog goes deeper on how a second touch earns a lead.
