Web Design Services That Load Fast and Convert

Web design services from me mean I plan the sitemap and write the code before I reach for a page builder, and SEO goes in from day one so you never get a template with your logo swapped in.

Here, that starts with architecture and SEO, not a template with your logo swapped in. Give me your ZIP and I'll tell you what a build looks like for a business like yours.

A good website is fitted, not assembled. The joints are where it either holds or it doesn't.

What's included

What Web Design Services Actually Include

More than one business owner has landed here after paying separate invoices for the sitemap and the CMS setup, billed by two vendors who never spoke to each other. On my builds that's one job, run in the order it happens.

Web design services — a raised bed frame joined and squared before any soil is added — Caleb Schallert.
Architecture first, always: the frame gets squared before a single handful of soil goes in.

Information Architecture & Sitemap Planning

Before any design happens, I map what every page is supposed to rank for and how the pages connect, so two pages never end up fighting Google for the identical search once the site is live.

UI & Visual Design

A brand folder can hold just a logo file and a couple of hex codes, and the layout and type choices still take their cue from what the business sells.

Front-End & Back-End Build

I hand-code where that fits best, or build on the CMS your team needs to run day to day, fast and clean, with no plugin bloat quietly fighting the load time.

CMS Integration

Changing a footer phone number once meant emailing a developer and waiting.

Content & SEO Foundation at Build Time

Heading structure and internal links go in during the build. Schema markup and a sitemap go in then too, not after launch once someone finally asks why the site isn't showing up.

Speed & Core Web Vitals From Day One

Straight off a phone camera, a single hero photo can outweigh every other file on a homepage combined, so mobile-first indexing (Google Search Central) and Core Web Vitals get built in from the first line of code.

Launch QA & a 30/60/90-Day Check-In

I test your contact form on launch day, since one kept emailing an inbox nobody checked.

The process

How I Deliver a Web Design Project, Step by Step

Seven stages, same order every time.

Whether you bring a whiteboard sketch or a typed proposal, I take you through the same seven stages.

  1. Map your business goals and your buyer's path from first visit to paying customer.
  2. Plan the architecture before touching a single pixel of design, so one page owns one search.
  3. I design the visual system to match the brand you already have.
  4. You get a site I build by hand, or on the CMS you can edit yourself.
  5. While I build, I lay in the content and SEO foundation so none of it waits for launch.
  6. Once it holds up on physical devices at different connection speeds, we launch.
  7. At 30, 60, and 90 days I check in and fix whatever isn't doing its job yet.
Web design services — seven level stepping stones running straight from a gate to a raised bed — Caleb Schallert.
Discovery, architecture, design, build, content, QA, the 30/60/90-day check: one stone at a time, in order.

Who this is for

Who This Work Is for, and What Changes Either Way

For a business with no site, or one that stopped working.

  • Most rebrands start with a new logo, months before the site itself catches up.
  • The cost compounds quietly, until somebody finally looks at the numbers.
  • A site built to convert turns visits into booked calls.
  • Bounce rate is usually the first number that moves once the fix ships.

Most people land here after a planned rebrand. A few land here after a migration that went sideways over a weekend. The free growth audit that starts this conversation looks at the site and whoever already outranks it.

Which one you need

Web Design vs. a Website Redesign

I've had a call start with someone convinced their old site didn't count anymore, nobody had touched it in years, only to find Google still had every page indexed. This page is for a site that doesn't exist yet, nothing live and no rankings earned, with no old redirects to plan around. A website redesign is the other conversation, for a site that already has traffic and search equity worth keeping, running through a migration plan first, mapping old URLs and redirects before a new design goes live.

The test comes down to one thing. If a site is live right now and Google already knows about it, the redesign protects what's been earned. If nothing is live yet, this page is the faster, usually less expensive answer.

What moves the price

What a Web Design Quote Actually Depends On

The quote depends on scope, moved most by template count.

Web design services — a cracked weed-choked path giving way to fresh level new stone — Caleb Schallert.
Nobody complains about a slow page. They just walk the newer path instead.

The clear lines

What Custom Website Design Does Not Include

A few clear lines, stated up front instead of discovered halfway through a project when they're harder to walk back.

No Guaranteed Rankings or Traffic Numbers

I can't promise page one before a site exists, and nobody else can either.

No Rebuild You Don't Actually Need

You may need only a couple of CMS settings changed to fix what looks like a rebuild.

No Storefront Build as a Default Scope

Checking stock counts nightly sits outside the default web design scope.

No Brand Identity or Logo Work Bundled Automatically

Logos that never get past a business card are common enough on new projects, and a lightweight brand system gets built alongside the site when one doesn't exist yet. A full logo and identity project gets its own scope and name, never folded into the quote.

Here’s what I build for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

These only live on this page. If yours isn't here, ask me below.

What the Build Covers

What's Included in the Build, From Start to Finish?

It's one project. I plan the sitemap, design, build with the CMS and SEO foundation, and test before launch, then check in at 30, 60, and 90 days.

How Is Custom Website Design Different From a Website Redesign?

This service starts from nothing: nothing live, nothing ranking, and no old URLs anyone has to redirect. A website redesign starts from a site that already has traffic and search equity worth keeping, so that job runs through a migration and redirect plan first. So if a site is already live and Google already knows about it, that's the redesign conversation, not this one.

Do You Build the Site Yourself, or Use a Template?

I build it myself, hand-coded or on the CMS that fits your team, not a theme with your logo and colors swapped in. That takes longer than dragging blocks around in a page builder, but it's why the sites I ship load faster and don't look like ten other sites in your industry.

Is SEO Built in From the Start, or Added After the Site Launches?

If you're worried it's an afterthought, it isn't. Heading structure, internal linking, schema markup, and a sitemap go in during the build, the same architecture-first rule every page on this site is built on. Launch without it and the site spends months catching up to a starting line it should already have crossed.

Can You Work With My Existing Brand, or Do I Need a Full Rebrand First?

I can work with what you have. If your brand system is solid, I build the site around it. If it's thin, a logo and not much else, I'll build a lightweight voice-and-visual system alongside the site instead of forcing a rebrand you didn't ask for.

How the Project Runs

How Long Does a Custom Web Design Project Take?

Discovery sets the date, and the scope sets how long it holds.

Show 7 more questions

What's the First Thing You Do Before Any Design Happens?

Information architecture: deciding which search each page is meant to own, and how the pages hand a reader along to each other, before a single visual decision gets made. Designing against a sitemap that might still change wastes everyone's time, so the map comes first every time.

What Happens After Launch, Do You Just Disappear?

Launch is the middle of the job. I check in at 30, 60, and 90 days, indexing first, then load speed, then whether the page is doing its job.

Do You Offer Ecommerce Web Design as Part of This?

Online stores are separately scoped work that's shipped before, not a line on a capabilities list, and not the default scope of this engagement. A full online store gets scoped as its own conversation, with its own plan for payments and inventory, instead of folded into a general site build.

Choosing Help, and What Changes

What Should I Look for Before Hiring for Custom Website Design?

If you're vetting a builder, I'd start by asking who writes the code, since a lot of 'custom' work is a theme with different photos dropped in. I've watched a prospective client's old site take forever to load on a phone in a parking lot, built by an agency whose own portfolio loaded just as slow. Ask that kind of builder to load their own site on your phone before you sign anything, and ask whether you own the files outright once the project ends. Those two questions filter out most of the noise.

Do You Price Web Design for a Small Budget, or Only Larger Projects?

I don't publish a flat price, because a focused small-business site and a larger custom build are different jobs with different scopes; pricing one number for both would be unfair either way. So I quote after understanding what you need, and a smaller, well-defined project costs less than a bigger one, at least every time I've run the numbers.

Do You Build Web Design for a Specific Industry, or Just General Business Sites?

General business sites, across industries. The process is the same regardless of what you sell: architecture first, then design, then a build that's built to convert. What changes by industry is the content and the trust signals a visitor needs to see, not the underlying discipline.

What Changes on My Site Once the Build Is Done?

Visitors get a site that tells the truth about the business and loads fast enough to stick around and read it. There's a clear next step instead of a wall of pages with nowhere obvious to go.

Why Choose Me for Custom Web Design

One call started with an owner certain the old site no longer counted, until Google proved otherwise. I've done SEO and web design since 1998; here's the story.

What Clients Say

I don't have client reviews on this page yet; here's how I earn them.

What's Included

Web design services cover information architecture and visual design. A hand-coded or CMS build comes next, with an SEO foundation set at launch. The internet marketing blog goes deeper on how that foundation holds up once a site is live and taking traffic.
