Small Business
Small Business Web Design
Small business web design starts with the few pages that earn a call, and I keep that list short on purpose. Everything on the site has to match your Google Business Profile down to the last digit of the phone number, and it has to load on a phone in a parking lot between jobs.
Small Business Web Design Starts With Your ZIP
Here, that means a site sized to what you need and can afford to run, not a scaled-down agency package. Give me your ZIP and I'll tell you what's realistic for a business your size.

The components
What Small Business Web Design Includes
Before any page ships, I stand in my driveway at noon with my own phone and try to find the number to call. Glare on the glass and one bar of signal is how plenty of your customers will meet the page, which is why the list below exists.

A Site Sized to What You Actually Need
Your line of work sets the count, usually three to five.
A Google Business Profile That Matches
I check your listing against your site before launch.
One Clear Path to a Call or a Form
The phone number is a tappable link and the form asks for little, which is a habit from my UI/UX design services.
Mobile-First From Day One
Phones get the first draft, as in my responsive web design services, and text and contrast follow WCAG guidance, which is not legal advice.
Local Trust Signals, Done Honestly
Photos of your own shop and service area go up first. Reviews join once you have some, and I never invent a quote.
SEO Built in, Not Bolted On
Headings, page titles and the structure search engines read get decided while I write the page, so you don't pay twice to fix them. AI search answers can only quote what a page says outright, so each page states what you do and where.
A Fast Load on a Normal Hosting Budget
Hosting for a fast site needn't cost enterprise money. Hand-coded pages with no plugin pile run fine on ordinary hosting. The domain is registered in your name and analytics reports to your own login.
The process
How I Deliver the Work, Step by Step
The first call with a new owner fills a page of my paper notepad, mostly with the questions customers keep asking. Order is the same every time after that, so nothing gets drawn before I know what you need.
- Discovery starts with who calls you and what they need to see before they trust you. Most answers live in your missed-call list.
- Page count comes next. Most businesses need three to five, and I say so before anything gets drawn.
- Profile matching follows, with your name, address, phone, hours and categories set beside the draft line by line.
- Pages get hand-coded after that, mobile-first, with headings, alt text and contrast handled as each one is written.
- Copy is written in your voice, drawn from an interview with you, so it could not be pasted onto another business's site.
- Launch is followed by a 30-day check-in. I confirm the page loads fast, and that a call or a form fill shows up in your analytics.

Why it matters
Why Three Pages Done Right Beat Thirty Done Badly
An owner once scrolled me through the old site on a laptop, page after page. The phone number finally turned up in the footer of the last one.
- More pages mostly pad the invoice and thin out the ones that matter
- Visitors come asking whether you can solve their problem.
- What it costs follows the page count and the features you choose.
- Ranking suffers when your Google Business Profile details don't match your site.
A home page and a services page answer that question fast, and Google's local ranking documentation leans on relevance and prominence.
Drag-and-drop builders can carry a simple site if you have the evenings for it, but the trade shows up later in load speed and control. Templates ship fast but look like everyone else's.
Prices stay off this page because a one-page site for a solo operator and a five-page site with a booking form are different jobs. Page count and anything booked or bought on the page move a quote. Ready-made words and photos trim the schedule. Ask any designer, me included, who registers the domain.

Week by week
What a Week of Small Business Website Design Actually Looks Like
Day one is a call. I ask what you sell and what a stranger must see before dialing.
- I settle the page count early, and it usually lands at three to five.
- Your Google Business Profile gets checked against your site before launch.
- Each page starts on a phone, with copy written in your voice.
- Thirty days after the site goes live, you get a check-in.
I've been building websites since 1998, and it began with a GoldenEye cheat-code page in Dreamweaver.
Before the first check-in I want a call or form fill landing in your analytics. The full week-by-week walkthrough covers each day.
Plain limits
What Small Business Web Design Does Not Include
Even my garden has a fence. This build has edges of its own, and they get said out loud instead of hiding in a contract.
Farm stands are small businesses too, and my farm website design work carries this build out to growers and the agritourism crowd.
Not a Full-Scale Enterprise Build
Dozens of pages, several departments or a full online store with a cart belong under the broader web design services build. This scoped version stays small on purpose.
Not Ongoing Marketing or Ad Management
This build covers the site and the profile match. Ads or a month-to-month SEO campaign are a later conversation, and I'm glad to have it once you're live. Updates after launch are their own arrangement, and my website maintenance services page covers it.
Not a Fix for a Slow Existing Site
Speed as the only complaint on an otherwise fine site points to website speed optimization services. A rebuild would be overkill.
No Guaranteed Ranking or Lead Count
Nobody can promise a search position or a number of calls, and I won't try. Your market and your competition decide too much of that. The site gets built to give you a fair shot at both.
The Most Common Small Business Website Design Mistakes I Fix
Phone numbers saved as pictures can't be tapped. Stock photos stand in for the work while the profile disagrees with the site. Too many menu pages bury the ones that matter.

Frequently Asked Questions
These only live on this page. If yours isn't here, ask me below.
The Basics
How Many Pages Does a Small Business Website Need?
Three to five covers most owner-operators, with extra service pages when you sell several distinct things. Each added page has to answer a question a customer asks.
Is Small Business Website Design Different From a Regular Web Design Project?
Craft stays identical, since it is the same hand-coded, mobile-first approach. Scope is where small business website design differs, because the page count and the build match what an owner-operator needs and nothing gets padded.
Do I Need a Website If Most of My Business Comes From Referrals?
Somebody who hears your name from a friend still looks you up before dialing, and a missing or dated site quietly undoes it.
What's Included in Website Design for Small Business Specifically?
Done my way, website design for small business means a right-sized page count and a site that matches your Google Business Profile. It is built mobile-first, with a clear path to a call or a form.
Google Business Profile & Local Trust
Why Does My Website Need to Match My Google Business Profile?
Two phone numbers, or hours that differ between the site and the profile, confuse Google and the customer alike. I check it before launch.
Can You Help Me Fix My Google Business Profile Too, or Just the Website?
Yes, I line the two up as part of the build, so name, address, phone, hours and categories get compared side by side. Deeper profile setup, like photos, posts and a review routine, is a related step that I can scope separately.
Show 9 more questions
Do I Need Existing Customer Reviews Before You'll Launch the Site?
Reviews can wait, so the site gets built first. Until you have some, the page simply does not claim any, and no invented quote or star rating fills the gap. Your first few tend to come faster once the site exists to send people to.
Will My Small Business Site Show Up in Local Search Results?
Search positions cannot be named in advance, me included, because your market and your competitors decide too much of it. What I control is a site aligned with your profile that competes fairly instead of fighting your own listing.
What's Included, What's Not
Is Affordable Web Design for Small Business the Same as Cheap Web Design?
Cheap describes a price, and affordable describes a fit. Affordable web design for small business means the cost matches a right-sized job. I price per project once I know what you need.
Why Don't You List Prices on This Page?
Numbers on a page would shortchange somebody. A one-page site for a solo operator and a five-page site with a booking form are different jobs. After a short conversation about what you need, I quote that job, and you see the number before you commit.
Can You Redesign My Existing Small Business Site Instead of Starting Over?
Often that is the smarter move. Old copy, photos and page structure sometimes carry value that a rebuild would throw away, and I tell you which case yours is before any work starts. A full redesign is a separate job, covered by my website redesign services page.
Do I Need Ecommerce, or Just a Way for People to Contact Me?
Most owner-operators need a fast route to a call or a form. Selling online with a cart sits under the broader web design services build, and a simple payment link from your processor is a smaller step.
Process & Fit
How Long Does This Take From Start to Launch?
A focused three-page site moves quickly when your words and photos are ready. You get a firm timeline once I know your scope.
Will I Be Able to Update the Site Myself After It Launches?
That depends on what suits you. Some owners want to edit a line of text themselves, and others would rather send me a message. It gets decided together before building starts, because the answer shapes the platform. The website, the domain and your data are yours either way.
What If My Business Grows and I Need More Pages Later?
Pages can be added later without tearing anything down. I would rather build the right three today than guess at ten you might want someday.
Why Choose Me for Website Design for Small Business
