UI/UX Design

UI/UX Design Services

With UI/UX design services, I map how someone moves through your site or app before I design a single screen. Real people try a prototype first. After the flow works I design the visuals and hand off a dev-ready spec.

Here, that starts with what a visitor needs to do on your site, on the screen they have. Give me your ZIP and I'll tell you what's realistic to fix first.

Good UX is a path where nothing is out of reach and you never wonder where to step next.

The components

What UI/UX Design Services Include

UX plans how a visitor moves through the page before UI adds any color.

UI/UX design services — a garden path shown half staked-out soil, half finished stone pavers — Caleb Schallert.
Structure first, paint second: you can see both stages of the same path in one frame.

Mapping the User Flow First

The path gets mapped on a whiteboard before a single screen gets designed.

Wireframes Before Pixels

In the Figma frame I use plain grayscale and hold off on any paint until the structure works.

Clickable Prototypes Tested With Live Users

I write down each spot where a thumb pauses on the prototype.

The Visual UI Design Layer

Color and type get picked to match the brand only once the flow is proven, never before it.

Accessibility and Responsive Behavior, Built In

Contrast and tap targets get checked at phone and desktop widths, the same discipline behind responsive web design services.

Copy as Part of the Interface

A Submit button and a "Request my free audit" button test as two different experiences on the same layout.

A Dev-Ready Handoff

Every button state and pixel spacing lands in a Figma spec a developer can build from, nothing left to guess.

The process

How I Deliver the Work, Step by Step

I work one step at a time.

  1. Discovery starts with what this visitor needs to walk away with.
  2. The user flow gets sketched on paper, entry to the one action that matters.
  3. Next I lay the wireframes out in Figma and keep them to structure alone.
  4. Then I build a clickable prototype.
  5. Live testers work through it while I watch where they hesitate just as closely as where they click.
  6. Only now do I design the visuals.
  7. Last, I hand over a dev-ready spec that names every state and breakpoint.

Why it matters

Why the Flow Decides Everything Else

You lose visitors when the path confuses them, even with a polished design.

UI/UX design services — a narrow watering channel carrying water from a cistern to a row of seedlings — Caleb Schallert.
The channel decides where the water goes before it ever moves. The flow decides everything just like that.

I point to Google's page experience documentation here, which counts ease of use toward trust too.

Week by week

What a Week of This Work Looks Like

I ask you questions all through day one. Then I work on the flow so it holds together by day three.

How it works

How the Project Works

I price by scope. A funnel and an app are different jobs.

Warning signs

Signs Your Site Needs This Kind of Work

One confusing screen costs you visitors who land, then leave.

UI/UX design services — seven garden stakes linked by twine in a straight ordered line — Caleb Schallert.
Discovery, flow, wireframe, prototype, test, visuals, handoff: seven stakes, one line, in order.

Where this stops

What UI/UX Design Services Does Not Include

Four lines mark where this work stops.

Not the Whole Site Build

This covers flow and wireframes, not the code or the launch. Small business web design is the smaller starting point for a site that doesn't exist yet.

Not an Ongoing UX Research Retainer

Every project maps and tests a single flow, then ends.

Not a Fix for a Slow Site

Slow load and a confusing flow feel alike. Load time is website speed optimization services.

No Guaranteed Conversion Number

I promise no conversion number. Your outcomes swing with a slow month or a sale, and I'd rather say so than guess.

UI/UX Design, in Plain Terms

What's the Difference Between UI Design and UX Design?

UX is how someone gets to the one action. UI is the look I add afterward.

What Is UI/UX Design, Exactly?

Mapping how a person should move through a site comes first; the screens that make that path easy follow after.

Do I Need This If I Already Have a Site?

If your site gets traffic but not action, visitors land and don't call, don't buy, don't fill out the form, the flow is usually the problem, not the paint. I can scope this work to just the pages or screens that are losing people.

What's the Difference Between This and Web Design Services?

This work plans and proves the experience, the flow, the wireframes, the tested prototype. Web design services build the whole site around it, the pages, the code, the hosting, the launch. You can hire one or the other, or both together.

Flows, Wireframes, and Prototypes

What Is a User Flow, and Why Does It Come Before Any Design?

It's the path someone takes to one clear action. I sketch it on paper first, so every screen afterward has a job.

What's the Point of a Wireframe If Nobody Outside the Project Ever Sees It?

In a wireframe I prove the structure works in plain grayscale. Nobody argues about color yet.

Show 10 more questions

Do You Test the Prototype With People Outside the Team, or Just Build It and Ship It?

I test it. A clickable prototype gets put in front of people who try to complete the task while I watch where they pause or backtrack. That's the difference, for me, between a design I believe works and one I've proven works.

Is User Experience Design the Same Thing as Usability Testing?

Usability testing is one step inside user experience design, done after the flow and wireframes.

What's Included, What's Not

Do UI Design Services Include the Visual Design, or Just the Structure?

Both, in order. I only start UI design services once I've proven the flow and wireframes. They cover the color, type, spacing, and imagery layered on top of that structure. I won't apply any of it until the structure's locked.

Are UX Design Services the Same as What Other People Call "UX Strategy"?

I'd say close enough that the work overlaps heavily. I map the user flow, then prove it with wireframes and a tested prototype, whatever label a given agency puts on that same work.

Can You Redesign the UI/UX on a Site You Didn't Build?

A site I didn't build gets the same starting treatment as one I did. I map the current flow, find where people get stuck, and design a clearer path from there.

Does This Include Accessibility, or Is That Handled Separately?

Yes, it's part of the wireframes. I check contrast, tap-target size and keyboard access while I check the layout at phone, tablet and desktop widths.

Process & Fit

How Long Does a Project Like This Take?

Timeline depends on scope, one funnel versus a full multi-user application, not a number quoted up front.

What Do I Get at the End of the Project?

A mapped user flow, wireframes, a clickable prototype already tested with people, the applied visual UI design, and a dev-ready handoff spec. I'd call it everything a builder needs, with nothing left to guess at.

Is This Worth It for a Small, Simple Site?

For a single focused page, a landing page or a short lead form, I've found a lighter version of this process still pays off. The flow decisions matter just as much on one page as on twenty.

Can You Show an Example of a Flow You've Built?

The growth-plan funnel running on this site right now is a live flow I built and shipped. A ZIP box opens a short dialog, asks for the minimum I need, and moves a visitor to one clear next step.

Why Choose Me for User Experience Design

One checkout flow lost its visitors on the second screen. This comes from a builder who has done SEO and web design since 1998; here's the story.

What's Included
