California
Internet Marketing Service in California: Run From Houston.
I'm Caleb Schallert, based in Houston, and California businesses come here for internet marketing that covers all of it: websites, SEO, video, ads and automation. Same remote-first way of working as anywhere I don't keep a local office: an audit, a plan you get to see, and Search Console data every month, proof included.
Internet Marketing Service Starts With Your ZIP Code
Whether you're in Los Angeles or anywhere else in the state, give me your ZIP. I'll show you what results look like for your market.

How Remote Work With Me Runs
I’ve never opened an office in the state, and I say so upfront instead of pretending otherwise.
- A plain read of what’s already there
- A plan built to survive your questions
- Proof inside the first few weeks, not months
Month one follows that order every time, no exceptions. Nothing turns into a black box.

Here’s what I build for you.
Audit
I start by reading what’s already there
Build
Paced work, remote-first, nothing hidden
Prove
Search Console data, read out loud, monthly
Every client gets the same three steps as everywhere I work. But I’d rather hand you a number than tell you it’s going well.
The Market, Sourced
So here's where I start every plan. 39,431,263 people (U.S. Census Bureau estimate), California's population as of 2024.
- 39,431,263 people, 1st by population
- 1,029,689 employer businesses, 1st nationally (2023)
- About 26.1 employer businesses per 1,000 people
- Largest city: Los Angeles, 3,878,704 people
Search volume and competition both peak right there (10% of the state's population), the single toughest spot in the state.
By population there are 5 metro areas, and each one is its own local search reality:
- Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim: 12,927,614 people
- Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario: 4,744,214 people
- San Francisco-Oakland-Fremont: 4,648,486 people
- San Diego-Chula Vista-Carlsbad: 3,298,799 people
- Sacramento-Roseville-Folsom: 2,463,127 people
The state runs on Pacific time, 2 hours behind Houston's Central time, per 49 CFR Part 71. I build the standing call around it, so it lands at a workable time on both ends.
Industries the Workforce Runs On
The workforce concentrates in these three sectors. I check the BLS numbers on this before I build a plan, every time.
- Health Care and Social Assistance: 2,804,931 jobs, 2024 (I've seen a well-sourced credentials page outrank a closer competitor's plain listing)
- Accommodation and Food Services: 1,667,340 jobs, 2024 (I've seen a single unanswered review cost more than a slow month ever did)
- Retail Trade: 1,586,477 jobs, 2024 (and the map pack rewards whoever keeps hours and inventory current)
Which of these three a business sits in changes the first ninety days more than anything else on this page.
Metro Search vs. Statewide Search
Cut the metro pages to save money and the calls usually drop within a month. So the page ends up answering two searches at once, on purpose.
- The one searcher who truly means the whole state is usually someone about to move here
- Voice search skews local harder than typed search does, even inside the state
- A search from Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim already reads local to Google before I touch anything
- Desktop sessions skew toward comparison shopping; phones skew local
One reader is comparing the whole state; the other already knows their metro by name. I build for both.
What I Would Do First for a California Business
I ask which metro a business competes in before I ask anything else about the business. Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim and Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario aren't remotely the same fight.
- 2,804,931 people worked in Health Care and Social Assistance here as of 2024. That's why I'd build the credentials and reviews first here; location comes second
- 1,667,340 people worked in Accommodation and Food Services here as of 2024. That's why the first fix here is always the response time, not the review count
- 1,586,477 people worked in Retail Trade here as of 2024. That's why I'd get the hours and inventory accurate first; the map pack rewards it
Days 30 to 60 build the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim-specific plan; a smaller metro can probably win faster on a thinner field. I've never built the same plan twice for two different metros, even in the same state. One plan per business.

Seasons, Timing and the Map Pack
I'd rather name the gap between Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim and Sacramento-Roseville-Folsom up front than promise the same pace for both. I've never planned a build around a single calendar; the state doesn't run on one.
- Health Care and Social Assistance is the one to watch here; it keeps a quiet, even pace no matter the time of year
- Accommodation and Food Services is the one to watch here; it moves with travel, without one single tourist season covering the state
- Retail Trade is the one to watch here; it swings hard around the holidays, same as the rest of the country
1,029,689 employer businesses call the state home, spread across industries that don't share a rhythm. Smaller fields move faster.
Internet Marketing Service in California: What an Audit Usually Turns Up
None of this is from your site. It is what audits on other sites turned up, set down so you can see what a first look finds.
- On-page score from 20 to 73 on a keyword change alone
- 1,898 key events and a 4.74 percent rate, both inflated
A 4,100-A-Month Keyword That Belonged to a Government Program
A home-care company's service page had been assigned a keyword with 4,100 searches a month, chosen on volume alone. Its nearest neighbors were dominated by a national benefit program, its acronym and its state variants. A private company cannot win that term. The traffic would not convert if it did. The page's own title, URL and H1 already matched a 2,300-a-month phrase, and switching to it moved the page's on-page score from 20 to 73 on the keyword change alone. We now read a keyword's ten nearest neighbors before committing to it.
One Form Fill Counted as Two Conversions
A home-care company's twelve-month conversion total stood at 1,898 key events and a 4.74 percent rate, and both were inflated. Two of the four starred events were deliberate: a thank-you page view and a phone click. The third was the analytics platform's own automatic form event, so one person filling in one form recorded two conversions. The fourth was a purchase event on a business with no ecommerce. We diffed the events against the tag manager's tags, and a conversion figure now waits for 28 clean days.
What's on the Table
Whether a business needs one of these or all five comes out of the audit, and it is usually not all five.
- Internet Marketing Service: SEO and content work, plus the technical fixes underneath, so a site gets found.
- Website Designer: a site built fast and clean enough to convert the traffic the SEO work already sends it.
- Video Production Service: video that sounds like the business itself, not a generic stock reel.
- Advertising Agency: paid ads that cover the gap while the organic rankings build underneath.
- Automation Company: automated routing and follow-up, so a fresh lead never sits waiting on a reply.
One or two first, the rest once those are working. Nobody has yet told me they regretted starting smaller than they planned.
This one page is a single entry in the full United States directory, with the country-level numbers alongside it.
Each state page runs on its own numbers, not one generic national template. Population, competition, and industry mix all shift the plan.
The Five Services
An engagement usually pulls from this same set of five. Where your business stands today decides which ones, not a sales pitch.

Quick Answers
Do You Have an Office in California?
No, and I won't pretend otherwise. Houston, Texas is home base, and a client in California gets exactly the process I run everywhere without a physical office. A launch or a shoot gets me on a plane; a status update never does.
How Is Working With Someone Outside California Different From Hiring Locally?
Distance changes the tools, not the standard I hold myself to. A kickoff call and a plan you can question take the place of a desk visit. I still answer my own phone, and I'll tell you straight when something isn't working, the same as if I were sitting across the table from you.
With California This Crowded a Market, What Does Working With Me Here Include?
Five pieces make up working together: internet marketing service, website designer, video production service, advertising agency, automation company. Which ones apply is an audit question, and I've been wrong guessing it in advance.
How Fast Can We Start Working Together If My Business Is in Los Angeles?
A business day is usually all it takes to hear back from me, no phone tag involved. We talk through the business, set the kickoff call, and a written plan follows before anything moves.
Is Los Angeles the Best Market, or Should I Look at the Whole State?
Los Angeles (3,878,704 people) is the state's largest market, usually the hardest one to rank in. I put the most work where the most customers already are. I'd still build Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario its own plan; it's a separate local-search reality, not an afterthought bolted onto the bigger metro's strategy.
Which Industries in California Benefit Most From This?
The top industries, per BLS data, are Health Care and Social Assistance, Accommodation and Food Services, and Retail Trade. Those are also where I see the competition run thickest, the most businesses chasing the same searches.
