Illinois
Internet Marketing Service in Illinois: Built to Convert.
The need is a plan that fits Illinois, and the work spans websites, SEO, video, ads and automation. I'm Caleb Schallert, Houston-based, working the same remote-first way I work everywhere without a local office. An audit first, a plan you can question, and Search Console data every month showing what moved.
Internet Marketing Service Starts With Your ZIP Code
Whether you're in Chicago or anywhere else in the state, give me your ZIP. I'll show you what results look like for your market.

What Working With Me Looks Like
I’ve never opened an office in the state, and I say so upfront instead of pretending otherwise.
- I look at what’s live before touching anything
- A plan you get a say in
- Something visible before the first month’s out
For a business like yours, the first month always looks like that. I’ve never shortened it.

The Market, Sourced
So here's where I start every plan. 12,710,158 people (U.S. Census Bureau estimate), Illinois's population as of 2024.
- 12,710,158 people, 6th by population
- 322,415 employer businesses, 5th nationally (2023)
- About 25.4 employer businesses per 1,000 people
- Largest city: Chicago, 2,721,308 people
That's usually the state's toughest market to rank in (21% of the state's population). Most of the searches live there, and so do most of the rivals.
The state splits into 3 metro areas by population, each running its own local search reality:
- Chicago-Naperville-Elgin: 9,408,576 people
- Peoria: 364,565 people
- Rockford: 337,103 people
Cross-border metros Illinois businesses also compete in: St. Louis, MO (2,811,927) and Davenport, IA (381,801).
The state runs on Central time, the same clock I'm on in Houston. Scheduling a call is exactly as easy as it would be with someone local. I build the standing call around it, so it lands at a workable time on both ends.
What the Workforce Works In
BLS employment data names the same answer every time I check: these three sectors carry the state's workforce.
- Health Care and Social Assistance: 838,041 jobs, 2024 (and here it's trust signals and reviews that decide a click, almost as much as being nearby)
- Manufacturing: 578,389 jobs, 2024 (and a spec sheet closes more deals here than a map listing ever will)
- Retail Trade: 571,407 jobs, 2024 (where the calendar sets the volume, but accuracy still decides who gets clicked)
I size the plan to the sector. That has cost me time when I guessed it early and skipped the audit.
Metro Search vs. Statewide Search
I build every state page to answer two different searches, since an internet marketing search means different things depending on who's typing it.
- A search from Chicago-Naperville-Elgin already reads local to Google before I touch anything
- Desktop sessions skew toward comparison shopping; phones skew local
- Mobile search leans local by default; desktop leans toward research
- Plenty of searches for the state by name come from people who've never set foot here
I've had two inquiries land the same afternoon, one asking about the whole state and one asking only about their block. Missing either reader costs genuine search volume, and it adds up fast. One page, two jobs.
What I Would Do First for an Illinois Business
The sector a business sits in shapes the plan more than the state line ever does.
- By 2024, Health Care and Social Assistance had grown to 838,041 jobs statewide, and I'd get the credentials page right before I'd touch anything else here
- By 2024, Manufacturing had grown to 578,389 jobs statewide, and spec sheets outrank a map pack here, so that's where the content starts
- By 2024, Retail Trade had grown to 571,407 jobs statewide, and the map pack rewards accuracy over almost anything else here, so that's where I'd fix it first
The first month builds toward Chicago-Naperville-Elgin directly, since that's usually where the field is thickest. I've watched a smaller metro clear its field faster than the bigger one simply because fewer people were competing for it. Simple rule, solid results.

Seasons, Timing and the Map Pack
I judge the state's timeline against Chicago-Naperville-Elgin and Rockford separately, since a build that clears Rockford in weeks can take months in Chicago-Naperville-Elgin. The state doesn't run on one economic calendar, and a plan that assumes it does is already behind.
- Health Care and Social Assistance is the one to watch here; it runs the same in January as it does in July
- Manufacturing is the one to watch here; it holds steady output, with barely any seasonal swing
- Retail Trade is the one to watch here; it tracks the national retail calendar, thicker competition around the holidays
Its 322,415 employer businesses sit across industries with sharply different seasonal rhythms. A quieter market moves through the same three steps faster than a crowded one does, not because the work is smaller, but because there's less competition standing between the first fix and the first visible result. The calendar decides pace.
Internet Marketing Service in Illinois: What an Audit Usually Turns Up
Audits on other sites keep turning up the problems below, each with its numbers. They are not a diagnosis of your site, only a picture of what the first pass looks for.
- Eighteen pages: 442,766 impressions and 51 clicks
- Discovered pages: 19 up to 135, on a site of about 230
Eighteen City Pages Took 53 Percent of the Impressions
Joining a personal-injury law firm's crawl to three months of Search Console data showed where the impressions went. Eighteen geo pages held 442,766 impressions, 53 percent of everything the site earned. They returned 51 clicks. Another 21 paginated archives were indexed with 282 impressions and zero clicks, while Google listed 166 pages as discovered or crawled but not indexed. We set the paginated archives and both category archive layers to noindex with follow, so they still pass link equity. Nothing was deleted. The city pages went to the top of the rewrite list.
Google Knew About 19 of Roughly 230 Pages
A children's science-education franchise ran on a WordPress multisite, and each location builds its own sitemap index. Only the main site's had ever been submitted. Search Console listed 19 discovered pages on a site of about 230. We submitted every location's index to Search Console and Bing. The missing sitemap lines were added to robots.txt as well. Discovered pages went from 19 to 135. That is discovery, not indexing, and we did not claim otherwise.
Every state I've built a page for lives in the full United States directory. The figures sit next to the rest of the country there, instead of standing alone.
The Five Services
An engagement usually pulls from this same set of five. Where your business stands today decides which ones, not a sales pitch.

Quick Answers
Do You Have an Office in Illinois?
No office in Illinois. I work out of Houston, Texas, same as anywhere else I don't keep a physical address. A launch, a shoot, or a leadership meeting is what gets me on a flight. I'd rather say that outright than fake a local office to sound bigger than I am.
How Is Working With Someone Outside Illinois Different From Hiring Locally?
The logistics change; the standard doesn't. A kickoff call replaces the desk visit, and a monthly report built on Search Console data replaces the drop-in. I've told a client bad news before they asked for it.
With Illinois This Crowded a Market, What Does Working With Me Here Include?
Working together can cover five things: internet marketing service, website designer, video production service, advertising agency, automation company. I've had a client only ever need one of them, and I've had a client need all five inside a year. The audit tells me which, not a package tier.
How Fast Can We Start Working Together If My Business Is in Chicago?
I reply to a first message within one business day, no phone tag. The kickoff call happens right after we've talked. A written plan comes before anything ships, and you get to push back on it.
