North Dakota
Internet Marketing Service in North Dakota: One Accountable Map.
Need internet marketing in North Dakota? Caleb Schallert here, based in Houston. Websites, SEO, video, ads and automation, all from one person, the same remote-first way I work everywhere I don't have a local office. It starts with an audit and a plan you can question; Search Console data every month shows what moved.
Internet Marketing Service Starts With Your ZIP Code
The state runs on local markets, from Fargo out. Give me your ZIP, and I'll tell you straight what results look like for your specific one.

What Working With Me Looks Like
Ask if I keep a local office and the answer is no. Houston is home base, remote-first, no exceptions made.
- What’s live gets read first
- A plan drafted for your pushback
- Movement you can point to inside weeks
Month one follows that order every time, no exceptions. Nothing turns into a black box.

The Numbers Behind the Market
As of 2024, North Dakota counts 796,568 people (U.S. Census Bureau estimate). I don't round that up or down for anybody.
- 796,568 people, 47th by population
- 25,402 employer businesses, 47th nationally (2023)
- About 31.9 employer businesses per 1,000 people
- Largest city: Fargo, 136,285 people
The hardest market to break into sits right there (17% of the state's population), where the volume concentrates.
4 metro areas make up the largest markets by population, each with its own local search reality:
- Fargo: 267,793 people
- Bismarck: 139,183 people
- Grand Forks: 104,184 people
- Minot: 75,938 people
The state splits across 2 federally defined time zones: Central and Mountain, depending on where in the state you are. That's per 49 CFR Part 71. I've never made a client adjust to Houston hours; the standing call moves to fit them.
The Top Industries
BLS employment data names the same answer every time I check: these three sectors carry the state's workforce.
- Health Care and Social Assistance: 64,172 jobs, 2024 (where the review count matters about as much as the address does)
- Retail Trade: 45,720 jobs, 2024 (a calendar with sharp seasonal swings, where stale hours cost a click)
- Accommodation and Food Services: 34,051 jobs, 2024 (I've watched a business out-rank a nicer competitor purely by replying faster)
Two businesses on the same street can need different builds. What they sell splits them.
Metro Search vs. Statewide Search
I've watched a search go from a statewide comparison to one city name within the same week. So every state page I build has to answer two searches, not one.
- The one searcher who truly means the whole state is usually someone about to move here
- Voice search skews local harder than typed search does, even inside the state
- A search from Fargo already reads local to Google before I touch anything
- Desktop sessions skew toward comparison shopping; phones skew local
One reader is comparing the whole state; the other already knows their metro by name. I build for both.
What I Would Do First for a North Dakota Business
Fargo's field and Bismarck's field don't overlap enough to share a plan.
- Health Care and Social Assistance is 64,172 jobs strong statewide (2024), so trust signals carry more weight than being nearby, so that's where the build starts
- Retail Trade is 45,720 jobs strong statewide (2024), so I'd lock in the hours and stock data before I'd write a single page
- Accommodation and Food Services is 34,051 jobs strong statewide (2024), so I'd set up the review-response habit before touching a single page of copy
I've watched a smaller metro clear its field faster than the bigger one simply because fewer people were competing for it. I'd spend the first 30 days on Fargo's own competitive field, then check Search Console 30 days later for that specific metro. I size every plan to the metro and the sector together, since a business a mile from its competitor can still need a completely different build once you factor in what it sells and who it's selling to. The sector decides.

Seasons, Timing and the Map Pack
I've never planned a build around a single calendar; the state doesn't run on one.
- Watch Health Care and Social Assistance closely; it runs the flattest calendar of the three, steady demand year-round
- Watch Retail Trade closely; it follows the same national holiday swings, felt harder here
- Watch Accommodation and Food Services closely; it moves with travel, without one single tourist season covering the state
I'd rather name the gap between Fargo and Minot up front than promise the same pace for both. The state carries 25,402 employer businesses, and their calendars pull in different directions. Timing is everything here.
Internet Marketing Service in North Dakota: What an Audit Usually Turns Up
These come from audits on other sites, in other industries. None of them describes your business, and I will not know what yours needs until I have looked.
- 66 business names across 118 pages, 65 of them wrong
- 15 hidden 404s on the monitor's first read after the fix
Sixty-Six Business Names at One Address
Page after page of a home-care company's site carried a second LocalBusiness node in its structured data, named from the page title. A full pass found 125 nodes across 118 pages and 66 distinct names. Of those names, 65 were wrong. The names read Home, Contact and the city name, all with the same address, phone and coordinates. The defect sat on pages. None of the 45 posts, 11 testimonials or 2 categories had it, so it was scoped to a page template. A misspelt telePhone key next to the plugin's correct output was a string we could search for.
Every Missing URL Answered With a Redirect to a Page That Said 200
A residential remodeler's site had no true 404. A nonsense URL, an author archive and a short link all got a 301 to a single error page that answered 200. Google reads that as a soft 404, and the SEO plugin's 404 monitor showed nothing, so the team believed there were no broken links. The plugin's fallback changed from custom redirection to the default 404, and a nonsense URL then returned a 404 status. The first read of the monitor afterward held 15 rows the catch-all had been hiding.
The full United States directory holds every state page I've built, this one among them, next to the country-level numbers.
The Five Services
These five things cover most of what a business ends up needing. I've had clients start on one and grow into three.

Quick Answers
Do You Have an Office in North Dakota?
There's no North Dakota office to visit. I run this from Houston, Texas, and I'd rather say that outright than dress up a remote setup as something it isn't. A launch, a shoot, a leadership meeting, still gets me on a flight.
How Is Working With Someone Outside North Dakota Different From Hiring Locally?
Distance changes the tools, not the standard I hold myself to. A kickoff call and a plan you can question take the place of a desk visit. I still answer my own phone, and I'll tell you straight when something isn't working, the same as if I were sitting across the table from you.
With North Dakota This Crowded a Market, What Does Working With Me Here Include?
Working together can cover five things: internet marketing service, website designer, video production service, advertising agency, automation company. I've had a client only ever need one of them, and I've had a client need all five inside a year. The audit tells me which, not a package tier.
How Fast Can We Start Working Together If My Business Is in Fargo?
I reply within a business day of your first message, no phone tag. Once we've talked through the business, the kickoff call comes next. A written plan you can question comes before anything ships.
