Washington
Internet Marketing Service in Washington: One Accountable Map.
The need is a plan that fits Washington, and the work spans websites, SEO, video, ads and automation. I'm Caleb Schallert, Houston-based, working the same remote-first way I work everywhere without a local office. An audit first, a plan you can question, and Search Console data every month showing what moved.
Internet Marketing Service Starts With Your ZIP Code
In Seattle or anywhere else across the state, your ZIP tells me which market you're competing in. Give it to me and I'll show you what results look like there.

What Working With Me Looks Like
You don’t get a local rep, since I don’t have one to send. I run this from Houston, same as everywhere else.
- What’s live gets read first
- A plan drafted for your pushback
- Movement you can point to inside weeks
There is no shortcut version of month one. Audit, plan, then work you can see.

The Numbers Behind the Market
As of 2024, Washington counts 7,958,180 people (U.S. Census Bureau estimate). I don't round that up or down for anybody.
- 7,958,180 people, 13th by population
- 202,177 employer businesses, 13th nationally (2023)
- About 25.4 employer businesses per 1,000 people
- Largest city: Seattle, 780,995 people
The hardest market to break into sits right there (10% of the state's population), where the volume concentrates.
Here are the 4 largest metro areas by population; each carries its own local search reality:
- Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue: 4,145,494 people
- Spokane-Spokane Valley: 604,962 people
- Kennewick-Richland: 319,428 people
- Olympia-Lacey-Tumwater: 302,912 people
The cross-border metro Washington businesses also compete in: Portland, OR (2,537,904).
The state runs on Pacific time, 2 hours behind Houston's Central time, per 49 CFR Part 71. That means our standing calls land at a time that works for both of us.
The Top Industries
The workforce concentrates in these three sectors. I check the BLS numbers on this before I build a plan, every time.
- Health Care and Social Assistance: 471,157 jobs, 2024 (and here it's trust signals and reviews that decide a click, almost as much as being nearby)
- Retail Trade: 328,479 jobs, 2024 (where the calendar sets the volume, but accuracy still decides who gets clicked)
- Accommodation and Food Services: 283,522 jobs, 2024 (where answering a bad review fast beats collecting five-star ones passively)
Two businesses on the same street can need different builds. What they sell splits them.
Metro Search vs. Statewide Search
Someone set on Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue searches nothing like someone still weighing the whole state.
- The one searcher who truly means the whole state is usually someone about to move here
- Voice search skews local harder than typed search does, even inside the state
- A search from Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue already reads local to Google before I touch anything
- Desktop sessions skew toward comparison shopping; phones skew local
I've had a business celebrate the statewide ranking and miss the metro-level loss sitting right beneath it. Few pages manage to serve both readers at once. I've had a business tell me the state page alone was working fine, right up until I pulled the Search Console data and found a whole metro's worth of searches it had never once shown up for. One page, two jobs.
What I Would Do First for a Washington Business
Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue and Spokane-Spokane Valley don't share a single competitor, so the plan for one never carries over to the other.
- Health Care and Social Assistance is 471,157 jobs strong statewide (2024), so I'd lead with reviews and licensing, since that's what a worried searcher checks first
- Retail Trade is 328,479 jobs strong statewide (2024), so I'd rather fix a wrong hour than write a new page, if I had to pick one first
- Accommodation and Food Services is 283,522 jobs strong statewide (2024), so I've watched a fast reply to a bad review save more bookings than an ad did
I've never built the same plan twice for two different metros, even in the same state. The first month builds toward Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue directly, since that's usually where the field is thickest. Simple rule, solid results.

Seasons, Timing and the Map Pack
I judge the state's timeline against Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue and Olympia-Lacey-Tumwater separately, since a build that clears Olympia-Lacey-Tumwater in weeks can take months in Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue. The state's industries don't share a calendar, so I don't build like they do.
- Health Care and Social Assistance, doesn't swing with the seasons the way retail does
- Retail Trade, follows the same national holiday swings, felt harder here
- Accommodation and Food Services, tracks the visitor calendar more closely than the weather
Its 202,177 employer businesses sit across industries with sharply different seasonal rhythms. Smaller fields move faster.
Internet Marketing Service in Washington: What an Audit Usually Turns Up
Audits on other sites keep turning up the problems below, each with its numbers. They are not a diagnosis of your site, only a picture of what the first pass looks for.
- Thirteen pages: 364 impressions and one click in three months
- 15 hidden 404s on the monitor's first read after the fix
Thirteen Pages All Answering One Question
A personal-injury law firm had thirteen pages that each answered whether to hire a personal-injury lawyer. At 373 to 884 words apiece, they drew 364 impressions and one click across three months, and six had none at all. They were blog essays built as pages, and they pulled against the main service page. Four earned something and stayed. The other nine were redirected with a 301 to the pillar guide. Redirect first, trash second, purge third. No 404 ever showed.
Every Missing URL Answered With a Redirect to a Page That Said 200
A residential remodeler's site had no true 404. A nonsense URL, an author archive and a short link all got a 301 to a single error page that answered 200. Google counts that as a soft 404. The SEO plugin's 404 monitor stayed empty, so the team thought the site was clean. The plugin's fallback changed from custom redirection to the default 404, and a nonsense URL then returned a 404 status. On its first read after the change, the monitor held 15 rows that the catch-all had hidden.
This page sits inside the full United States directory, right alongside the country-level numbers and every other state I've already built a page for.
The Five Services
These five things cover most of what a business ends up needing. I've had clients start on one and grow into three.

Quick Answers
Do You Have an Office in Washington?
No office in Washington. I work out of Houston, Texas, same as anywhere else I don't keep a physical address. A launch, a shoot, or a leadership meeting is what gets me on a flight. I'd rather say that outright than fake a local office to sound bigger than I am.
How Is Working With Someone Outside Washington Different From Hiring Locally?
What's different is logistics, not effort. A kickoff call up front and a written plan you can push back on replace a local shop's desk visits. I've caught a slipping number in a monthly report before a client ever asked about it. One person carries the account, not a rotating team.
With Washington This Crowded a Market, What Does Working With Me Here Include?
Five things sit inside working together: internet marketing service, website designer, video production service, advertising agency, automation company. I've turned down selling all five to a business that only needed two of them, and I'd do it again.
How Fast Can We Start Working Together If My Business Is in Seattle?
Reach out and I reply within one business day, no phone tag. We'll talk through the business, then set a kickoff call. A written plan follows that you can push back on before anything ships.
