North Carolina
Internet Marketing Service in North Carolina: Under One Plan.
I'm Caleb Schallert, based in Houston, and I run internet marketing for businesses in North Carolina the same remote-first way I run it everywhere I don't have a local office: websites, SEO, video, ads and automation, one person across all of it. An audit first, a plan you can see, and Search Console data every month proving it moved.
Internet Marketing Service Starts With Your ZIP Code
The state runs on local markets, from Charlotte out. Give me your ZIP, and I'll tell you straight what results look like for your specific one.

How Remote Work With Me Runs
Ask if I keep a local office and the answer is no. Houston is home base, remote-first, no exceptions made.
- First, a plain look at what exists
- Then a plan open to your questions
- Then something you can see, fast
A first month with a local business runs on that order: audit, plan, then something ships.

Here’s what I build for you.
Audit

Build

Prove
A dated Search Console number, not an impression
I run the same three steps everywhere. So I’ve watched the shortcut version backfire enough times to stop trying it.
The Market, Sourced
North Carolina's population comes in at 11,046,024 people, 2024 (U.S. Census Bureau estimate), the market a local business is up against.
- 11,046,024 people, 9th by population
- 258,169 employer businesses, 8th nationally (2023)
- About 23.4 employer businesses per 1,000 people
- Largest city: Charlotte, 943,476 people
Search volume and competition both peak right there (9% of the state's population), the single toughest spot in the state.
By population there are 4 metro areas, and each one is its own local search reality:
- Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia: 2,883,370 people
- Raleigh-Cary: 1,562,009 people
- Greensboro-High Point: 800,722 people
- Winston-Salem: 705,187 people
The cross-border metro North Carolina businesses also compete in: Virginia Beach, VA (1,794,278).
The state runs on Eastern time, 1 hour ahead of Houston's Central time, per 49 CFR Part 71. I build the standing call around it, so it lands at a workable time on both ends.
The Top Industries
I pulled BLS employment data instead of guessing, and these are the industries the state runs on.
- Health Care and Social Assistance: 579,529 jobs, 2024 (I've watched reviews and credentials outweigh being the closest option, more than once)
- Retail Trade: 524,832 jobs, 2024 (and the map pack rewards whoever keeps hours and inventory current)
- Manufacturing: 465,130 jobs, 2024 (where the search is almost entirely B2B, spec sheets over a map pack)
Which of these three a business sits in changes the first ninety days more than anything else on this page.
Metro Search vs. Statewide Search
I've stopped assuming an internet marketing search means one thing; the page has to answer whichever reader shows up.
- The one searcher who truly means the whole state is usually someone about to move here
- Voice search skews local harder than typed search does, even inside the state
- A search from Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia already reads local to Google before I touch anything
- Desktop sessions skew toward comparison shopping; phones skew local
I've rebuilt more than one page that tried answering both searches at once and answered neither. Missing either reader costs genuine search volume, and it adds up fast. Both readers matter.
What I Would Do First for a North Carolina Business
The sector matters more than the metro here; I build to that first.
- By 2024, Health Care and Social Assistance had grown to 579,529 jobs statewide, and I'd build the credentials and reviews first here; location comes second
- By 2024, Retail Trade had grown to 524,832 jobs statewide, and I'd fix the listing accuracy before touching anything seasonal
- By 2024, Manufacturing had grown to 465,130 jobs statewide, and I'd skip the map-pack work and build for the buyer running spec comparisons instead
Thirty to sixty days go into Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia's field specifically; sixty to ninety are proof, not a statewide guess. Fewer businesses competing for the same terms usually means the audit turns up a shorter, sharper list of fixes. The audit settles it.

Seasons, Timing and the Map Pack
I plan a build around whichever industry's calendar is quietest right now. The state carries 258,169 employer businesses, and their calendars pull in different directions.
- Health Care and Social Assistance is one of three here, and it keeps a quiet, even pace no matter the time of year
- Retail Trade is one of three here, and it swings hard around the holidays, same as the rest of the country
- Manufacturing is one of three here, and it keeps a level pace year-round, tied to orders more than weather
I judge the state's timeline against Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia and Winston-Salem separately, since a build that clears Winston-Salem in weeks can take months in Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia. Plain and simple.
Internet Marketing Service in North Carolina: What an Audit Usually Turns Up
Audits on other sites keep turning up the problems below, each with its numbers. They are not a diagnosis of your site, only a picture of what the first pass looks for.
- Zero form conversions reported against 1,103 form entries
- One of three origins was dead; five of five requests then returned 200
Green Tracking Settings and No Conversion Tag on the Site
An in-home-care company's ad settings screen showed enhanced conversions checked, customer data terms accepted and a green tag message. The website itself carried no conversion tag. The report counted zero form conversions on 341 website clicks in 30 days, while the form plugin's own list held 1,103 entries across the two live lead forms. The fault was in tracking, so we staged the tag work ahead of any page rebuild. We now confirm a tag from the page itself, in the rendered HTML and the loaded containers.
One of Three Origins Behind the Firewall Was a Dead Server
A residential remodeler moved hosts. The firewall kept the old address on file next to the two live ones. That firewall rotates uncached requests across all of its addresses, which meant some visits could land on a dead server. Two answered 200 with the live site and one answered 404, a likely source of the intermittent errors nobody could reproduce in a browser. We removed the dead address and cleared the cache. After that, five uncached requests returned 200 five times, and audits behind a firewall now test every origin directly.
The Scope of an Engagement
I rarely sell all five to one business at once, and the audit is what decides which apply.
- Internet Marketing Service: search visibility work: SEO, content, and the technical fixes that let a site get found.
- Website Designer: the site itself: fast, built to convert whatever traffic the SEO work brings in.
- Video Production Service: video that sounds like the business itself, not a generic stock reel.
- Advertising Agency: ad spend that covers the short-term gap while the organic work builds underneath it.
- Automation Company: the automation layer that routes and follows up on a lead before it has a chance to go cold.
I would rather start with one or two and prove them out. I have watched a business buy all five up front and use two of them.
This one page is a single entry in the full United States directory, with the country-level numbers alongside it.
No generic national page could hold this: population, competition, and industry mix all move state to state.
The Five Services
These five things cover most of what a business ends up needing. I've had clients start on one and grow into three.

Quick Answers
Do You Have an Office in North Carolina?
There's no North Carolina office to visit. I run this from Houston, Texas, and I'd rather say that outright than dress up a remote setup as something it isn't. A launch, a shoot, a leadership meeting, still gets me on a flight.
How Is Working With Someone Outside North Carolina Different From Hiring Locally?
It's mostly a question of tools. A kickoff call and a written plan cover what a desk visit used to. I've flagged a dropping number to a client before they'd even opened that month's report themselves.
What Does Working With Me in North Carolina Include?
Five pieces make up working together: internet marketing service, website designer, video production service, advertising agency, automation company. Which ones apply is an audit question, and I've been wrong guessing it in advance.
How Fast Can We Start Working Together If My Business Is in Charlotte?
You'll hear back within a business day, and I mean from me, not an assistant. The kickoff call comes next, then a written plan you get to push back on before anything ships.
Is Charlotte the Best Market, or Should I Look at the Whole State?
Charlotte (943,476 people) carries the biggest market, and I've found it's typically the toughest one to rank in. Competition concentrates wherever the customers already are. Raleigh-Cary runs second. A plan bolted on as an afterthought wastes money there; it earns its own plan, not a footnote.
Which Industries in North Carolina Benefit Most From This?
The top industries, per BLS data, are Health Care and Social Assistance, Retail Trade, and Manufacturing. Those are also where I see the competition run thickest, the most businesses chasing the same searches.
