Tennessee
Internet Marketing Service in Tennessee: Measured Every Month.
I'm Caleb Schallert, based in Houston, and Tennessee businesses come here for internet marketing that covers all of it: websites, SEO, video, ads and automation. Same remote-first way of working as anywhere I don't keep a local office: an audit, a plan you get to see, and Search Console data every month, proof included.
Internet Marketing Service Starts With Your ZIP Code
The state runs on local markets, from Nashville-Davidson out. Give me your ZIP, and I'll tell you straight what results look like for your specific one.

What Working With Me Looks Like
No office in the state. I’m in Houston, and I run clients here the way I run anyone I can’t just drive to.
- Start with what’s already there
- A plan you’re allowed to argue with
- Movement inside the first few weeks, not months
You get the same opening month as any client: audit, then plan, then something you can see.

Here’s what I build for you.
Audit
Everything live gets read before anything changes
Build
Built on a schedule you can follow along with
Prove
Numbers from Search Console, dated and checkable
Audit, build, prove, in that order, for any engagement, same as anywhere else. Skip a step and it shows up later, probably at a worse time.
The Market, by the Numbers
As of 2024, Tennessee counts 7,227,750 people (U.S. Census Bureau estimate). I don't round that up or down for anybody.
- 7,227,750 people, 15th by population
- 150,129 employer businesses, 20th nationally (2023)
- About 20.8 employer businesses per 1,000 people
- Largest city: Nashville-Davidson, 729,505 people
Search volume and competition both peak right there (10% of the state's population), the single toughest spot in the state.
Tennessee's 5 largest metro areas, by population, each its own local search reality:
- Nashville-Davidson--Murfreesboro--Franklin: 2,150,553 people
- Memphis: 1,339,345 people
- Knoxville: 957,608 people
- Chattanooga: 588,050 people
- Clarksville: 345,955 people
The state splits across 2 federally defined time zones: Eastern and Central, depending on where in the state you are. That's per 49 CFR Part 71. Scheduling works around that difference, not the other way around.
The Top Industries
BLS employment data names the same answer every time I check: these three sectors carry the state's workforce.
- Health Care and Social Assistance: 420,698 jobs, 2024 (I've watched reviews and credentials outweigh being the closest option, more than once)
- Manufacturing: 362,430 jobs, 2024 (where local intent barely exists; it's mostly buyers doing their homework first)
- Retail Trade: 344,510 jobs, 2024 (and the map pack rewards whoever keeps hours and inventory current)
The competitive set and the questions customers ask shift by industry. A zip code tells me much less than the sector does.
Metro Search vs. Statewide Search
A Nashville-Davidson--Murfreesboro--Franklin search and a statewide search come from two different readers entirely.
- The one searcher who truly means the whole state is usually someone about to move here
- Voice search skews local harder than typed search does, even inside the state
- A search from Nashville-Davidson--Murfreesboro--Franklin already reads local to Google before I touch anything
- Desktop sessions skew toward comparison shopping; phones skew local
I've had two inquiries land the same afternoon, one asking about the whole state and one asking only about their block. Few pages manage to serve both readers at once. Every state page I build has to hold two readers at once, the one still comparing the whole state and the one who already knows exactly which city they're calling from, and neither reader gets shortchanged just because the other one is easier to write for. One page, two jobs.
What I Would Do First for a Tennessee Business
Which metro a business sells into decides the plan before any service does. Nashville-Davidson--Murfreesboro--Franklin and Memphis don't share a competitive field.
- 420,698 people worked in Health Care and Social Assistance here as of 2024. That's why I've found reviews move this field more than proximity ever does, so that's first
- 362,430 people worked in Manufacturing here as of 2024. That's why I'd start with the technical content; that's what a buyer here is searching for
- 344,510 people worked in Retail Trade here as of 2024. That's why the map pack rewards accuracy over almost anything else here, so that's where I'd fix it first
Thirty to sixty days go into Nashville-Davidson--Murfreesboro--Franklin's field specifically; sixty to ninety are proof, not a statewide guess. I've built for markets ten times Nashville-Davidson--Murfreesboro--Franklin's size, and the process stays the same; only the pace changes. Simple rule, solid results.

Seasons, Timing and the Map Pack
I've watched a business win Clarksville in half the time it took to move Nashville-Davidson--Murfreesboro--Franklin. I plan a build around several calendars at once, not one borrowed from the biggest industry.
- Health Care and Social Assistance, runs the flattest calendar of the three, steady demand year-round
- Manufacturing, keeps a level pace year-round, tied to orders more than weather
- Retail Trade, tracks the national retail calendar, thicker competition around the holidays
I count 150,129 employer businesses here, and they don't all move on the same clock. The calendar decides pace.
Internet Marketing Service in Tennessee: What an Audit Usually Turns Up
None of this is from your site. It is what audits on other sites turned up, set down so you can see what a first look finds.
- Eighteen pages: 442,766 impressions and 51 clicks
- Five-page total: 7,204 ms down to 747 ms
Eighteen City Pages Took 53 Percent of the Impressions
Joining a personal-injury law firm's crawl to three months of Search Console data showed where the impressions went. Eighteen geo pages held 442,766 impressions, 53 percent of everything the site earned. They returned 51 clicks. Paginated archives added 21 indexed URLs with 282 impressions and no clicks, and Google reported 166 pages as discovered or crawled but not indexed. The archives and both category layers went to noindex with follow, which keeps link equity moving. No page was deleted or redirected. The city pages moved to the front of the rewrite queue.
An Edge Cache That Bypassed Every Single Request
The host's edge cache was bypassing every page we sampled on a rental-housing referral site. Five of five. Each request waited 808 to 902 ms on the origin, Googlebot's included. Turning it on took a single toggle. Warm fetches then ran 133 to 181 ms against 1,463 to 1,980 ms cold. The five-page total fell from 7,204 ms to 747 ms, though the first request to each page still travels to the origin.
What an Engagement Can Include
Whether a business needs one of these or all five comes out of the audit, and it is usually not all five.
- Internet Marketing Service: the SEO, content, and technical work that gets a site found by the people already searching.
- Website Designer: a fast site that converts the traffic the SEO work sends it, no filler.
- Video Production Service: video work that sounds like the brand talking, not a stock-footage placeholder.
- Advertising Agency: paid ads that cover the gap while the organic rankings build underneath.
- Automation Company: the follow-up and lead-routing work that keeps a new lead from going cold.
One or two first, the rest once those are working. Nobody has yet told me they regretted starting smaller than they planned.
This page is part of a full United States directory, alongside the country-level numbers, so each state can be read against the rest of the country, not in isolation.
No generic national page could hold this: population, competition, and industry mix all move state to state.
The Five Services
These five things cover most of what a business ends up needing. I've had clients start on one and grow into three.

Quick Answers
Do You Have an Office in Tennessee?
No, I'm based in Houston, Texas. A Tennessee client gets the same remote-first process I use everywhere I don't have a physical office. A launch, a shoot, or a leadership meeting gets me on a plane; nothing less does, and I'd rather say that than imply a local presence that isn't real.
How Is Working With Someone Outside Tennessee Different From Hiring Locally?
What's different is logistics, not effort. A kickoff call up front and a written plan you can push back on replace a local shop's desk visits. I've caught a slipping number in a monthly report before a client ever asked about it. One person carries the account, not a rotating team.
What Does Working With Me in Tennessee Include?
Five pieces make up working together: internet marketing service, website designer, video production service, advertising agency, automation company. Which ones apply is an audit question, and I've been wrong guessing it in advance.
How Fast Can We Start Working Together If My Business Is in Nashville-Davidson?
I reply within a business day of your first message, no phone tag. Once we've talked through the business, the kickoff call comes next. A written plan you can question comes before anything ships.
Is Nashville-Davidson the Best Market, or Should I Look at the Whole State?
Nashville-Davidson (729,505 people) carries the biggest market, and I've found it's typically the toughest one to rank in. Competition concentrates wherever the customers already are. Memphis runs second. A plan bolted on as an afterthought wastes money there; it earns its own plan, not a footnote.
Which Industries in Tennessee Benefit Most From This?
The top industries, per BLS data, are Health Care and Social Assistance, Manufacturing, and Retail Trade. Those are also where I see the competition run thickest, the most businesses chasing the same searches.
