Internet Marketing Service in Mississippi: Run From Houston.

I'm Caleb Schallert, based in Houston, and Mississippi businesses come here for internet marketing that covers all of it: websites, SEO, video, ads and automation. Same remote-first way of working as anywhere I don't keep a local office: an audit, a plan you get to see, and Search Console data every month, proof included.

Internet Marketing Service Starts With Your ZIP Code

In Jackson or anywhere else across the state, your ZIP tells me which market you're competing in. Give it to me and I'll show you what results look like there.

Working With Me From Houston

You don’t get a local rep, since I don’t have one to send. I run this from Houston, same as everywhere else.

  • First, a plain look at what exists
  • Then a plan open to your questions
  • Then something you can see, fast

There is no shortcut version of month one. Audit, plan, then work you can see.

Caleb Schallert, based in Houston, works with clients across the country.

The Market, Sourced

I start with the plain number here. 2,943,045 people live in Mississippi as of 2024 (U.S. Census Bureau estimate).

  • 2,943,045 people, 35th by population
  • 60,465 employer businesses, 35th nationally (2023)
  • About 20.5 employer businesses per 1,000 people
  • Largest city: Jackson, 141,449 people

The hardest market to break into sits right there (5% of the state's population), where the volume concentrates.

Here are the 3 largest metro areas by population; each carries its own local search reality:

  • Jackson: 606,178 people
  • Gulfport-Biloxi: 426,793 people
  • Hattiesburg: 156,575 people

The cross-border metro Mississippi businesses also compete in: Memphis, TN (1,339,345).

The state runs on Central time, the same clock I'm on in Houston. Scheduling a call is exactly as easy as it would be with someone local. Scheduling works around that difference, not the other way around.

What the Workforce Works In

These three sectors carry more of the workforce than anything else, per the BLS's own count, not my guess.

  • Health Care and Social Assistance: 141,999 jobs, 2024 (where a worried searcher checks credentials before they check the map)
  • Manufacturing: 141,366 jobs, 2024 (and a spec sheet closes more deals here than a map listing ever will)
  • Retail Trade: 138,774 jobs, 2024 (a calendar with sharp seasonal swings, where stale hours cost a click)

Two businesses on the same street can need different builds. What they sell splits them.

An internet marketing search shows up in Google from two different readers, and I write for both of them.

  • The one searcher who truly means the whole state is usually someone about to move here
  • Voice search skews local harder than typed search does, even inside the state
  • A search from Jackson already reads local to Google before I touch anything
  • Desktop sessions skew toward comparison shopping; phones skew local
  • Mobile search leans local by default; desktop leans toward research

I'd rather cover both than bet wrong on which one typed it. I've explained this same split to more businesses than I can count. Two searches, one page.

What I Would Do First for a Mississippi Business

I'd start by naming the metro, Jackson or Gulfport-Biloxi, since the plan changes depending on the answer.

  • Credentials and review volume come before location, so that's where I'd start, since Health Care and Social Assistance alone accounts for 141,999 jobs here in 2024
  • This is a research sale, so I'd build the content a buyer reads, since Manufacturing alone accounts for 141,366 jobs here in 2024
  • I'd lock in the hours and stock data before I'd write a single page, since Retail Trade alone accounts for 138,774 jobs here in 2024

I've had a plan built for the wrong metro before; it cost a client a slow month. The first month builds toward Jackson directly, since that's usually where the field is thickest. The plan I hand a business depends more on who its customers are and where they're searching from than on anything I could guess before opening the audit and reading what it turns up. The audit settles it.

One tag, one row, first. In Mississippi the tag reads a metro's name before it reads a service.

Seasons, Timing and the Map Pack

I'd rather name the gap between Jackson and Hattiesburg up front than promise the same pace for both. The state doesn't run on one economic calendar, and a plan that assumes it does is already behind.

  • Health Care and Social Assistance, runs the flattest calendar of the three, steady demand year-round
  • Manufacturing, keeps a level pace year-round, tied to orders more than weather
  • Retail Trade, swings hard around the holidays, same as the rest of the country

With 60,465 employer businesses statewide, no single season covers all of them. That gap is real.

Internet Marketing Service in Mississippi: What an Audit Usually Turns Up

None of this is from your site. It is what audits on other sites turned up, set down so you can see what a first look finds.

  • Five-page total: 7,204 ms down to 747 ms
  • Discovered pages: 19 up to 135, on a site of about 230

An Edge Cache That Bypassed Every Single Request

The host's edge cache was bypassing every page we sampled on a rental-housing referral site. Five of five. Each request waited 808 to 902 ms on the origin, Googlebot's included. Turning it on took a single toggle. Warm fetches then ran 133 to 181 ms against 1,463 to 1,980 ms cold. Across the five pages, the total dropped from 7,204 ms to 747 ms, and the first request to a page still goes back to the origin.

Google Knew About 19 of Roughly 230 Pages

Every location on a children's science-education franchise's WordPress multisite builds a sitemap index of its own. Only the main site's index had gone to Google, and Search Console showed 19 discovered pages against about 230 on the site. We submitted every location's index to Search Console and Bing. The missing sitemap lines were added to robots.txt as well. Discovered pages rose from 19 to 135. That says nothing about how many were indexed.

This one page is a single entry in the full United States directory, with the country-level numbers alongside it.

The Five Services

These five things cover most of what a business ends up needing. I've had clients start on one and grow into three.

Quick Answers

Do You Have an Office in Mississippi?

There's no Mississippi office to visit. I run this from Houston, Texas, and I'd rather say that outright than dress up a remote setup as something it isn't. A launch, a shoot, a leadership meeting, still gets me on a flight.

How Is Working With Someone Outside Mississippi Different From Hiring Locally?

What's different is logistics, not effort. A kickoff call up front and a written plan you can push back on replace a local shop's desk visits. I've caught a slipping number in a monthly report before a client ever asked about it. One person carries the account, not a rotating team.

What Does Working With Me in Mississippi Include?

Five things sit inside working together: internet marketing service, website designer, video production service, advertising agency, automation company. I've turned down selling all five to a business that only needed two of them, and I'd do it again.

How Fast Can We Start Working Together If My Business Is in Jackson?

I reply within a business day of your first message, no phone tag. Once we've talked through the business, the kickoff call comes next. A written plan you can question comes before anything ships.
