Internet Marketing Service in Vermont: Built to Convert.
Caleb Schallert, based in Houston. Vermont businesses get the same remote-first process I use everywhere I don't have a local office, across websites, SEO, video, ads and automation. An audit, a plan you can read start to finish, and Search Console data every month that proves it moved.
Internet Marketing Service Starts With Your ZIP Code
The state runs on local markets, from Burlington out. Give me your ZIP, and I'll tell you straight what results look like for your specific one.

How Remote Work With Me Runs
Ask if I keep a local office and the answer is no. Houston is home base, remote-first, no exceptions made.
- I check what’s live first, always
- You get a plan before anything moves
- Visible progress by the first few weeks
For a business like yours, the first month always looks like that. I’ve never shortened it.

Here’s what I build for you.
Audit
A plain look at what’s live right now
Build
Built remote-first, on a schedule you can track
Prove
Search Console numbers, never a guess
Audit, build, prove, in that order, for any engagement, same as anywhere else. Skip a step and it shows up later, probably at a worse time.
The Market, Sourced
648,493 people, 2024 (U.S. Census Bureau estimate). That's Vermont, and the size of the field a business here competes in.
- 648,493 people, 49th by population
- 20,841 employer businesses, 50th nationally (2023)
- About 32.1 employer businesses per 1,000 people
- Largest city: Burlington, 44,432 people
That's where the field gets thickest (7% of the state's population). More searches just means more rivals chasing the same ones.
Just one metro area; its local search reality looks like this:
- Burlington-South Burlington: 229,445 people
The state runs on Eastern time, 1 hour ahead of Houston's Central time, per 49 CFR Part 71. That means our standing calls land at a time that works for both of us.
What the Workforce Works In
I look at BLS numbers before I look at anything else, and for this state they point to these three sectors.
- Health Care and Social Assistance: 51,343 jobs, 2024 (where a worried searcher checks credentials before they check the map)
- Retail Trade: 35,820 jobs, 2024 (a calendar with sharp seasonal swings, where stale hours cost a click)
- Accommodation and Food Services: 30,369 jobs, 2024 (where the response time matters as much as the rating itself)
Two businesses on the same street can need different builds. What they sell splits them.
Metro Search vs. Statewide Search
Every state page I build carries two answers at once, because an internet marketing search means two different things to two different people.
- A search from Burlington-South Burlington already reads local to Google before I touch anything
- Desktop sessions skew toward comparison shopping; phones skew local
- Mobile search leans local by default; desktop leans toward research
- Plenty of searches for the state by name come from people who've never set foot here
Cut the metro pages to save money and the calls usually drop within a month. Skip either reader and the page loses genuine search volume. Both readers, one page.
What I Would Do First for a Vermont Business
A business rarely needs the same three moves as its neighbor; the sector decides more of the plan than the state does.
- By 2024, Health Care and Social Assistance had grown to 51,343 jobs statewide, and location comes second here in my experience; credentials and reviews come first
- By 2024, Retail Trade had grown to 35,820 jobs statewide. A wrong closing time can lose more business than a slow website ever does
- By 2024, Accommodation and Food Services had grown to 30,369 jobs statewide, and answering reviews fast matters more than collecting stars, so that's first
I size the build to Burlington-South Burlington and nothing bigger than the data supports. I size the build to what the data supports here, never a padded plan bigger than the market itself. The audit tells me more about which of these moves matters first than any assumption I'd bring in on day one, and I've been wrong often enough guessing ahead of it that I no longer bother trying. No two plans match.

Seasons, Timing and the Map Pack
The quietest industry calendar in the state is where I'd start a build, every time. That's across 20,841 employer businesses statewide, each running its own seasonal pattern.
- Health Care and Social Assistance is one of three here, and it runs the flattest calendar of the three, steady demand year-round
- Retail Trade is one of three here, and it climbs every holiday season, the same as it does nationwide
- Accommodation and Food Services is one of three here, and it moves with travel, without one single tourist season covering the state
I've never padded a plan to look like it's competing with a bigger metro; it isn't. Plain and simple.
Internet Marketing Service in Vermont: What an Audit Usually Turns Up
These come from audits on other sites, in other industries. None of them describes your business, and I will not know what yours needs until I have looked.
- 15 hidden 404s on the monitor's first read after the fix
- Discovered pages: 19 up to 135, on a site of about 230
Every Missing URL Answered With a Redirect to a Page That Said 200
A residential remodeler's site had no true 404. A nonsense URL, an author archive and a short link all got a 301 to a single error page that answered 200. Google counts that as a soft 404. The SEO plugin's 404 monitor stayed empty, so the team thought the site was clean. We switched the plugin's fallback from custom redirection to the default 404 and confirmed a nonsense URL returned a 404 status. The first read of the monitor afterward held 15 rows the catch-all had been hiding.
Google Knew About 19 of Roughly 230 Pages
A children's science-education franchise ran on a WordPress multisite, and each location builds its own sitemap index. Only the main site's had ever been submitted. Search Console listed 19 discovered pages on a site of about 230. All the location indexes went to Search Console and Bing. The missing sitemap lines were added to robots.txt as well. Discovered pages rose from 19 to 135. That says nothing about how many were indexed.
What an Engagement Can Include
Which of these applies is an audit question, and I have been wrong about it often enough to stop guessing.
- Internet Marketing Service: the SEO, content, and technical work that gets a site found by the people already searching.
- Website Designer: the site itself: fast, built to convert whatever traffic the SEO work brings in.
- Video Production Service: video shot in the brand's own voice, never a stock-footage stand-in.
- Advertising Agency: paid ads to hold the gap open while the organic rankings climb underneath them.
- Automation Company: the follow-up and lead-routing work that keeps a new lead from going cold.
Prove one out, then add the next. When a client has pushed to start with everything, the fourth and fifth pieces sat unused for months.
This page sits inside the full United States directory, right alongside the country-level numbers and every other state I've already built a page for.
A single national template can't hold up here, since population, competition, and industry mix all shift by state.
The Five Services
An engagement usually pulls from this same set of five. Where your business stands today decides which ones, not a sales pitch.

Quick Answers
Do You Have an Office in Vermont?
I'm based in Houston, Texas, with no Vermont storefront to point to. Every client gets the same remote-first process. When a trip is truly warranted, a launch, a shoot, a leadership meeting, I book it. Otherwise the work runs remote, and I don't pretend it's something else.
How Is Working With Someone Outside Vermont Different From Hiring Locally?
The tools change; the attention doesn't. A kickoff call and a written plan replace the desk visit a local shop might offer. I answer my own phone, and I've told a client their number went the wrong way before they noticed it themselves, the accountability a monthly report is supposed to buy.
With Vermont This Crowded a Market, What Does Working With Me Here Include?
Working together can cover five things: internet marketing service, website designer, video production service, advertising agency, automation company. I've had a client only ever need one of them, and I've had a client need all five inside a year. The audit tells me which, not a package tier.
How Fast Can We Start Working Together If My Business Is in Burlington?
I reply to a first message within one business day, no phone tag. The kickoff call happens right after we've talked. A written plan comes before anything ships, and you get to push back on it.
Burlington Is the Only In-State Metro. Does Vermont Still Need a State-Level Plan?
Not much. Burlington, about 35% of the state's people, is the one metro it can call its own. I've never found a reason to split those into two separate plans here.
Which Industries in Vermont Benefit Most From This?
The top industries, per BLS data, are Health Care and Social Assistance, Retail Trade, and Accommodation and Food Services. Those are also where I see the competition run thickest, the most businesses chasing the same searches.
